Nissan Group Reports U.S. Sales Of 212,068 Units In Third Quarter Of 2024
Nissan Group reported a decline in U.S. sales for the third quarter of 2024, with total units sold reaching 212,068, marking a 2.2% decrease compared to the previous year. Despite this overall drop, several models showed significant growth. The Nissan Z sports car saw an impressive increase of 109.3%, while the Nissan Versa sedan's sales rose by 68.1%.
Sales of the Nissan Pathfinder SUV also experienced a notable rise, increasing by 41.4%. The Nissan Ariya electric crossover and the Nissan Frontier pickup truck recorded growths of 23.3% and 21.6%, respectively. Meanwhile, the Nissan Sentra sedan's sales improved by 9.8% over the same period.
The Nissan Division's total sales for the third quarter stood at 197,528 units, reflecting a slight decline of 1.4% from last year. However, when considering calendar year-to-date figures, there was a modest increase of 1.7%, with total sales reaching 658,957 units.
In terms of specific models, the Nissan LEAF saw a remarkable year-over-year increase of 187.5% in quarterly sales and a calendar year-to-date growth of 30.6%. Conversely, the Maxima experienced a sharp decline in both quarterly and yearly figures.
INFINITI's third-quarter performance showed a decrease in sales by 12.1%, with total units sold amounting to 14,540 compared to last year's figures. The INFINITI Q50 model faced a significant drop of 28.9% in quarterly sales.
Despite these declines, the INFINITI QX50 managed to achieve an increase in sales by 11.7% during this period. However, other models like the Q60 and QX55 experienced substantial decreases in their respective sales figures.
Truck and Car Sales Analysis
The overall truck segment saw a reduction in sales by 7% during the third quarter, totaling 119,177 units sold compared to last year's numbers. On the other hand, car sales increased by 8.5%, reaching a total of 78,351 units for this period.
North American-produced vehicles showed slight growth with an increase of 0.8% in quarterly figures and a more substantial rise of 3.6% for calendar year-to-date numbers.
Import Vehicle Trends
Imported vehicle sales declined by 11.7% during the third quarter compared to last year’s figures, totaling only 30,923 units sold within this timeframe.
This trend was consistent across both cars and trucks within this category as they faced reductions in their respective sales numbers over this period.
