Nissan Foundation Invites Nonprofits To Submit Letters Of Intent For Upcoming 2025 Grant Cycle

The Nissan Foundation is now accepting Letters of Intent for its 2025 grant cycle. Nonprofit organisations that align with the foundation's goals are encouraged to submit their letters by 9 p.m. ET on November 4, 2024. The grants will support projects scheduled between July 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026.

Since its inception in 1992, the Nissan Foundation has distributed nearly $17 million to over 150 nonprofits. These organisations focus on promoting cultural awareness and understanding. Earlier this year, the foundation awarded $1.2 million to 44 nonprofits dedicated to fostering cultural understanding and appreciation of diversity.

The foundation's mission is to build community by valuing cultural diversity. Chandra Vasser, President of the Nissan Foundation, stated, "For 32 years, the Nissan Foundation has been singularly focused on awarding grants to nonprofits whose programs explore and celebrate cultural diversity and heritage." This commitment helps break down cultural barriers and highlights our shared humanity.

One notable grantee for 2024 is the Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The museum received a grant for its Indigenous Identities: Here, Now & Always exhibition. Curated by Native American artist Juane Quick-to-See Smith from the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Nation, this exhibition features work from artists representing over 50 indigenous nations across North America.

Maura Reilly, PhD., Director of the Zimmerli Art Museum, expressed gratitude for the support: "The Nissan Foundation's support is key to Zimmerli's ongoing efforts to amplify historically unheard voices." The exhibition includes in-person and virtual events along with educational tools that provide a platform for contemporary Native American artists to share their stories globally.

Eligibility Criteria for Grant Applicants

To qualify for funding from the Nissan Foundation, organisations must meet specific criteria. They should have a 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and have been operational for more than three years. Their programs should reflect the foundation's mission of valuing cultural diversity and be intentionally designed around this theme.

Eligible organisations must also serve communities where Nissan has significant operations. These areas include Southern California, Middle Tennessee, Central Mississippi, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Detroit, New York City, North Central New Jersey, and Atlanta.

Organisations invited to submit full proposals will be notified in January. Proposals are due in March with awards announced in June.

The foundation continues its dedication to supporting initiatives that promote understanding and acceptance among diverse cultures worldwide.
