Nissan Formula E Team Set to Compete in Shanghai E-PrixYOKOHAMA, Japan – The Nissan Formula E Team is gearing up for the upcoming Shanghai International Circuit race, which will take place this weekend as part of the 2023/24 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. With only six rounds left in Season 10, the team is determined to continue their impressive performance and secure more points.In the previous race in Berlin, driver Oliver Rowland delivered exceptional performances, starting from P15 and P16 on the grid on Saturday and Sunday respectively. He managed to secure two podium finishes, bringing his total for the season to six. As a result, Rowland currently sits in third place in the World Championship standings. His teammate, Sacha Fenestraz, has also been performing strongly, consistently scoring points in four of the last five races.China has a history with Formula E, hosting the first-ever E-Prix at the Bird's Nest Olympic Stadium in Beijing back in 2015. The series last visited China five years ago in Sanya. Rowland achieved pole position for the team during that race and finished in second place, marking his first-ever Formula E podium.The Shanghai International Circuit has been modified to accommodate Formula E machinery. The track features 12 corners, including a challenging first turn that gradually tightens as it enters a rolling complex of turns. The heavy braking zones leading into Turns 6 and 10 are expected to provide excellent overtaking opportunities during the two races.The action will kick off with FP1 on Friday, followed by qualifying at 10:20 (UTC+8) and the E-Prix at 15:00 (UTC+8) on both Saturday and Sunday.Tommaso Volpe, managing director and team principal of the Nissan Formula E Team, expressed his satisfaction with the team's performance in Berlin. He praised Rowland for his two podium finishes and commended Fenestraz for consistently earning points. Volpe acknowledged the challenges that lie ahead in Shanghai, as it is a new venue for Formula E. He emphasized the importance of adaptability and quick learning to succeed in this double-header.Rowland, reflecting on his recent success, expressed his contentment with his racing performance. He acknowledged the strong competition in the championship and highlighted the need to improve qualifying results to secure a better starting position on the grid. Fenestraz expressed his excitement about racing at a brand-new venue and his eagerness to get back behind the wheel.The Nissan Formula E Team made its debut in Season 5 (2018/19) of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, becoming the first Japanese manufacturer to enter the series. In Season 7 (2020/21), Nissan announced its long-term involvement in Formula E, committing to the Gen3 era until the end of Season 12 (2025/26). The team acquired the e.dams race team in April 2022 and took full ownership of its participation in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. Additionally, Nissan announced its collaboration with McLaren Racing, supplying its Nissan EV powertrain technology for the entire Gen3 era.Nissan's participation in Formula E aligns with its goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
