Nissan Formula E Team Collaborates With Dynisma To Enhance Race Preparation With New Simulator
Nissan Formula E Team has partnered with Dynisma Ltd. to enhance its race preparation for the upcoming Season 12. The collaboration will provide a cutting-edge racing simulator, crucial for the team's competitiveness in the GEN4 era of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. With limited track time, this advanced simulator will be essential for driver training and technical optimisation.
The UK-based Dynisma Ltd., known for its expertise in simulator technology, will supply Nissan with the latest Dynisma DMG-1 system. This system aims to improve both car performance and driver readiness. Engineers from both companies will collaborate to customise the simulator's hardware and software to meet Nissan's specific needs in Formula E.
Tommaso Volpe, managing director and team principal of Nissan Formula E Team, emphasised the importance of having top-notch simulation tools. "The simulator is one of the most important tools for any Formula E team, so it is extremely important to have the best technology," he stated. The team is committed to staying competitive in Formula E until at least 2030.
Dorian Boisdron, team director at Nissan Formula E Team, expressed confidence in the new simulator's potential. "We're confident that the new simulator will help take us to another level," Boisdron said. The partnership with Dynisma is seen as vital for optimising operations ahead of GEN4 and enhancing race preparation.
Cristina Mañas Fernández, head of performance and simulation at Nissan Formula E Team, highlighted the significance of simulation in engineering work before race weekends. She noted that improving simulation accuracy is crucial due to limited track time. "Dynisma is a leader in the market, and its unparalleled technology will help us make a big step forward," she added.
Ashley Warne, CEO of Dynisma Ltd., expressed excitement about partnering with Nissan Formula E Team. "We are thrilled to become the official simulator partner of Nissan Formula E Team," Warne said. The collaboration aims to enhance drivers' preparation and optimise car setups in a series where every second counts.
Nissan's Journey in Formula E
Nissan entered all-electric racing during Season 5 (2018/19) of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship as Japan's first manufacturer in this series. In Season 7 (2020/21), they committed long-term to Gen3 era racing from Season 9 (2022/23) through Season 12 (2025/26). In April 2022, Nissan took full ownership by acquiring e.dams race team.
In June 2022, Nissan announced it would provide its EV powertrain technology to McLaren Racing throughout Gen3 era races. On March 28th, 2024—before Tokyo’s inaugural E-Prix—Nissan reaffirmed its dedication by becoming first manufacturer signed up for Gen4 era running until 2030.
Formula E: A Platform for Sustainable Mobility
The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship was certified as having a net zero carbon footprint from inception back in 2020 by investing in climate-protecting projects across all race markets. This electric racing series serves as a platform for testing cutting-edge electric technologies while promoting sustainable mobility within urban centres worldwide.
Nissan’s participation aims not only at showcasing zero-emission vehicles but also transferring knowledge between racetrack innovations onto road cars benefiting customers globally while striving towards carbon neutrality by mid-century through electrifying future vehicle offerings starting early next decade within key markets worldwide.
