Nissan Formula E Team has announced that Alpine Academy drivers Sophia Flörsch and Abbi Pulling will participate in the all-women Rookie Test in Valencia next month. The team is eager to engage with two promising rookies for this event. Flörsch, from Germany, boasts a strong racing background, including FIA Formula 3 and the European Le Mans Series. Meanwhile, British driver Pulling has excelled in 2024, notably becoming the first woman to win in British F4.
The Rookie Test will take place on 7 November at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia. Flörsch and Pulling are already integrating into the team's testing program by working at the Paris workshop and gaining simulator experience. They will drive during the afternoon session, aiming to enhance their skills and contribute to the team's development efforts.
Tommaso Volpe, managing director and team principal of Nissan Formula E Team, expressed enthusiasm for this initiative. "This is a great initiative to give women the opportunity to test Formula E machinery, and we're delighted to be taking part with two cars," he stated. He emphasised the increasing presence of women in racing and Nissan's role in supporting this trend.
Sophia Flörsch shared her excitement about driving a modern Formula E car. "I'm very excited to have the chance to drive the most modern Formula E car," she said. She is eager to explore new experiences and aims to maximise her performance during the test while assisting the team in preparing for Season 11.
Abbi Pulling also expressed her enthusiasm for testing the Nissan e-4ORCE 05. "I've been wanting to drive a Formula E car for a long time, so to be given the chance to test the Nissan e-4ORCE 05 is a dream!" she remarked. She looks forward to learning from the Nissan crew and adapting to this new environment while focusing on team objectives.
Nissan's Commitment

In Season 7 (2020/21), Nissan confirmed its long-term involvement through Gen3 era commitments, running from Season 9 (2022/23) until Season 12 (2025/26). In April 2022, Nissan took full ownership of its involvement by acquiring e.dams race team.
In June 2022, Nissan announced it would supply its EV powertrain technology to McLaren Racing throughout Gen3 era. For Season 10 of ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, Oliver Rowland and Sacha Fenestraz will drive for Nissan Formula E Team. On March 28th, 2024, before Tokyo E-Prix debut, Nissan reaffirmed its commitment by signing up for Gen4 era until 2030.
Formula E's Environmental Goals
The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship achieved net zero carbon footprint certification from inception in 2020 by investing in climate-protecting projects across race markets. The series serves as a platform for testing electric technology advancements while promoting sustainable mobility within urban centres.
Nissan aims to electrify all-new vehicle offerings by early 2030s in key markets as part of its carbon neutrality goal by 2050. By participating in Formula E, Nissan seeks to transfer knowledge between racetrack and road vehicles for improved electric vehicle offerings worldwide.
