Nissan Formula E Team Marks Victorious Finish To Season 10

Following a challenging race on Saturday, where both Sacha Fenestraz and Oliver Rowland missed out on points due to incidents and penalties, the team made a strong comeback for Round 16 at the ExCeL London Circuit. Rowland, who started ninth, quickly climbed positions during the E-Prix. He found himself in fourth place as the race intensified.

Rowland then capitalised on the leaders needing to take Attack Mode late in the race, moving into the lead and securing his and the team's second victory of the year. Meanwhile, Franco-Argentine Fenestraz fought hard in a crowded midfield, ending his second season with the team in 15th place. These results placed Nissan Formula E Team fourth in Season 10's Teams' Championship with 182 points.

Tommaso Volpe, managing director and team principal of Nissan Formula E Team, expressed his satisfaction: "What an amazing way to finish the season! After a frustrating race yesterday, where both drivers were involved in incidents and picked up penalties, we bounced back with an improved set-up and great pace from Oli to take the win. The strategy was spot on to get up to fourth, and then he took advantage of incidents and the frontrunners needing to take Attack Mode to move into the lead."

Oliver Rowland reflected on his unexpected victory: "The perfect end to a fantastic season! I never expected to win today, I got a great start and picked my moments in a crazy race. Once I got to fourth, I didn't want to get too involved in the title fight, so I waited and hoped for something to happen, which it eventually did and I managed to pick up the pieces to win the race."

Sacha Fenestraz shared his thoughts on a tough season: "It hasn't been an easy season, but I learned a lot from it and it will make me stronger in the future. In Saturday's race we had really strong pace, but unfortunately an incident meant we received a five-second penalty and dropped out of the top-10. A big shame for us as I think we deserved to finish in the points."

Nissan's Commitment

Nissan also secured third place in the Manufacturers' Trophy. The team is proud of its performance this season. Volpe added: "To finish fourth in the Teams' Championship and third in the manufacturers' standings is a real positive and we can be proud of our performance. It was also great to have Nissan CEO Makoto Uchida with us for this win, which made it even more special!"

Nissan made its all-electric racing debut in Season 5 (2018/19) of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship. It became the first Japanese manufacturer to enter this series. In Season 7 (2020/21), Nissan announced its long-term involvement in Formula E and its commitment to Gen3 era running from Season 9 (2022/23) through Season 12 (2025/26).

Future Prospects

In April 2022, Nissan acquired e.dams race team taking full ownership of its involvement in Formula E World Championship. By June 2022, Nissan announced it would supply its EV powertrain technology to McLaren Racing for Gen3 era.

For Season 10 of ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, Nissan's drivers were Oliver Rowland and Sacha Fenestraz. On March 28th, 2024 ahead of Tokyo E-Prix debut, Nissan confirmed its long-term commitment by signing up for Gen4 era until 2030.

The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship became first global sport certified with net zero carbon footprint since inception back in 2020 by investing in climate-protecting projects across all race markets.

This result will give us a boost heading into off-season," Volpe said. "We'll look to keep pushing and improving ahead of next year where we aim to challenge for both championships." The championship promotes sustainable mobility adoption within city centres combating air pollution while lessening climate change effects.
