Nissan's Feel Electric Festival Returns To Covent Garden Ahead Of Formula E Weekend

Nissan is set to electrify London's Covent Garden with its 'Feel Electric Festival' from 17 to 21 July. This event, running from 10am to 8pm daily, offers the public a chance to delve into the world of Formula E and NISMO art while enjoying a taste of Japan. Entry is free for all visitors.

The festival features two Nissan Formula E cars on display, including one within a life-sized, London-themed 3D poster by graphic artist Jalcalara (Juan Alcalá). Visitors can also explore custom art and race memorabilia from previous E-Prix events, such as a crystal cherry blossom helmet and a bespoke kimono from the Tokyo E-Prix.

At the heart of the event is the Nissan Formula E Team’s ‘Feel Electric Quest’ Lab. Here, attendees can test their driving skills on race simulators, create Manga-style racing avatars, learn about Formula E car technology, and participate in an interactive quiz. This immersive experience aims to engage visitors with the excitement of electric racing.

Visitors can design their own custom clothing at the pop-up NISMO streetwear store. This store is set among traditional Japanese ‘Sakura’ cherry blossom trees, providing a picturesque backdrop. Additionally, guests can sample complimentary sushi from Sushi Samba restaurant in this unique setting.

Diana Torres, Managing Director of Nissan GB, expressed enthusiasm about the event: "We’re thrilled to bring Formula E back to Covent Garden with the 2024 Nissan Feel Electric Festival. As a brand, we’re committed to an electrified future and Formula E is an integral part of our mission to bring the excitement and fun of zero-emission electric vehicles to a global audience."

Nissan's Commitment to Formula E

Nissan entered the ABB FIA Formula E Championship in Season 5 (2018/19), becoming the first Japanese manufacturer in the series. In Season 7 (2020/21), Nissan confirmed its long-term commitment to Formula E and its involvement in the Gen3 era until Season 12 (2025/26). In April 2022, Nissan acquired the e.dams race team, taking full ownership of its participation in Formula E.

In June 2022, Nissan announced it would supply its EV powertrain technology to McLaren Racing for the entire Gen3 era. For Season 10 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, Oliver Rowland and Sacha Fenestraz are Nissan’s drivers. On 28 March 2024, ahead of the Tokyo E-Prix, Nissan committed to the Gen4 era until 2030.

Formula E's Environmental Impact

The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship was certified with a net zero carbon footprint from inception in 2020. The series invests in climate-protecting projects across all race markets to offset emissions each season. All cars are powered by electricity, making it a platform for testing and developing electric technology.

Formula E promotes sustainable mobility in city centres to combat air pollution and mitigate climate change effects. The championship features some of the world's greatest manufacturers racing on street circuits worldwide.

Nissan aims for carbon neutrality across its operations by 2050. By early 2030s, it plans to electrify every new vehicle offering in key markets. The company leverages knowledge transfer between racetrack and road to enhance electric vehicles for customers.

The 'Feel Electric Festival' promises an engaging blend of technology, art, and culture at Covent Garden's East Piazza this July. With interactive experiences and unique displays, it celebrates both Nissan's achievements in Formula E and its vision for an electrified future.
