Nissan Advances Seven Spots In J.D. Power's 2024 Initial Quality Study
Nissan has made significant strides in the J.D. Power 2024 U.S. Initial Quality StudySM (IQS), moving up seven positions from last year. The company now ranks sixth overall in the automotive industry for initial quality, a notable improvement from its previous 13th place. The Nissan Murano continues to excel, being named the best in the Midsize SUV category for initial quality once again.

The J.D. Power Initial Quality Study evaluates vehicle quality based on responses from buyers and lessees during the first 90 days of ownership. Participants report on 227 potential issues across ten categories: infotainment; features, controls and displays; exterior; driving assistance; interior; powertrain; seats; driving experience; climate; and unspecified (unique to repair). This year’s study also includes data from franchised dealership repair visits for the first time.
The 2024 Nissan Murano has been recognised as the best in initial quality among midsize SUVs for five consecutive years. Additionally, the 2024 Sentra and 2024 Altima ranked second overall in their segments, while the 2024 Frontier secured third place in its category for initial quality.
