Nissan Unveils Ariya NISMO: The Pinnacle Of High-Performance Electric Vehicles
Nissan is reintroducing its NISMO brand to Europe with the Ariya NISMO, a high-performance electric vehicle. This launch coincides with World EV Day, marking a significant milestone for Nissan. The Ariya NISMO combines advanced EV technology with motorsport-inspired enhancements, promising an exhilarating driving experience.
The Ariya NISMO features a meticulously redesigned interior that exudes luxury and comfort. The seats are trimmed in a suede-like material and adorned with stitched NISMO logos, providing enhanced support during spirited driving. Red stitching on the steering wheel and red accents throughout the cabin create a sporty ambiance, complemented by a sophisticated blackened wood texture.
Designed for aerodynamic efficiency, the Ariya NISMO boasts new spoilers and air curtains inspired by Formula E. These features reduce drag and smooth airflow along the body. A front splitter with canard vortices generators, extended lower bumpers, twin diffuser, and ducktail rear spoiler significantly reduce lift by 40%, achieving a CL of 0.11 compared to 0.18 for the standard Ariya.
Under the hood, the Ariya NISMO is powered by an 87kWh battery and a NISMO-tuned powertrain that delivers 435 PS (429 HP / 320 kW). This setup allows the vehicle to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in just five seconds. The car's e-4ORCE system, adapted from Nissan's ATTESA system, adjusts power distribution to each wheel 10,000 times per second for optimal grip and handling.
The suspension system has been thoroughly revised to enhance balance and agility at higher speeds. New stabilisers, spring rates, and shock absorber settings contribute to improved body control. Retuned steering offers increased resistance and a more direct feel as speeds rise. Additionally, 'i-Booster' technology enhances braking performance through revised regeneration tuning.
The Ariya NISMO also introduces a new 'NISMO' driving mode that sharpens responses to driver inputs. This mode makes the vehicle even more engaging to drive while maintaining everyday usability. Unique 20-inch ENKEI wheels paired with Michelin Pilot Sport EV tyres provide increased grip and reduced un-sprung mass.
Launch Details
The Ariya NISMO will be available in one standard launch specification featuring a NISMO Stealth Grey exterior finish. Sales are set to begin in January 2025 across European markets where the model is already available, excluding Cyprus, Malta, and Northern Ireland. UK customers can secure priority access later this month by contacting local Nissan dealers.
