MOKE International Welcomes Nick English As New Executive Chairman
Nick English, co-founder of Bremont Watches, has been appointed as the new Executive Chairman of MOKE International. This strategic move marks a significant milestone for MOKE, a British company known for its heritage and innovation. Established in 1964, MOKE has sold over 500 vehicles to date and became the first heritage automotive brand to go fully electric in 2022.
English's appointment comes at a crucial time as MOKE seeks to expand internationally with the help of strategic partners and investors. His experience in luxury manufacturing will be invaluable in driving the company's growth. "I am thrilled to be joining MOKE International at such a pivotal time," said English. "The MOKE brand holds a special place in automotive history, and I look forward to working with the talented team to build on its legacy."
Isobel Dando, who served as CEO for the past four years, will be stepping down from her role. She expressed her confidence in English's ability to lead the company forward. "Hiring Nick is a real coup for MOKE. I am delighted to be handing over the reins to him; to further build on everything the team have achieved to date," she said.
MOKE International has raised $35 million in investment so far, which has been used to reshore production to the UK and secure its trademark. The company also engineered and homologated the Electric MOKE for use in both the USA and Europe. It was the first electric vehicle without a roof or doors to achieve M1 Small Series approval in Europe and NHTSA and EPA approval in the US.
The Electric MOKE is primarily made of European parts and is manufactured in Northamptonshire, England. Despite receiving a bid from EV Technology Group valuing shares at up to $120 million, MOKE International retained its independence. The proposed merger with Fablink did not materialise.
The company has a waiting list of around 800 orders worth over $25 million. The board is excited about ramping up production and integrating it vertically within the UK. To find out more or join the waiting list for a genuine MOKE, visit their official website.
A Rich Heritage
Originally designed by Sir Alec Issigonis in the early 1960s as a military utility vehicle, the Mini MOKE quickly gained cult status in fashionable resorts like the French Riviera and Caribbean. Celebrities such as Brigitte Bardot, The Beatles, and James Bond were among its early adopters.
MOKE International owns over 100 related trademarks worldwide, including the original 1964 European 'MOKE' trademark. In 2023, it launched the Electric MOKE, becoming the first heritage automotive brand to go fully electric while maintaining its iconic design.
Modern Innovations
The latest models are meticulously engineered and handcrafted just miles away from where they were originally built in Northamptonshire. They integrate state-of-the-art driving technologies while honouring their timeless design.
The Electric MOKE battery comes with a three-year warranty and offers sufficient range for multiple round trips between popular destinations like Cap-Ferrat and Monaco or Santa Monica and Malibu Beach.
MOKE continues to be cherished for its unique styling and evokes feelings of freedom. It remains a must-have luxury beach accessory in sunny destinations worldwide.
This leadership change signifies an exciting new chapter for MOKE International as it continues its legacy of delivering exceptional vehicles globally.
