Newspress Awards 2024: Honouring The Best In Motoring Journalism And PR
The 2024 Newspress Awards have concluded, celebrating excellence in motoring journalism and PR. This year saw 21 proud winners receiving their coveted trophies. The event highlighted the industry's talent and dedication, with many sharing their 'winner with award' selfies.
The awards aim to honour outstanding contributions within the motoring journalism and PR community. This year’s winners included Jack Carfrae for Commercial Vehicle Writer, Natalie Middleton for Automotive Business Journalist, and Simon Hucknall for Classic Car Writer. These accolades reflect the high standards and dedication of professionals in this field.
Jack Carfrae also won the Automotive News Journalist category, showcasing his versatility. Fleet World was recognised as the top Automotive Business Publication, while Ray Massey took home the award for Automotive Consumer Journalist. Stephen Dobie was honoured as the Automotive Feature Writer, sponsored by Kia.
The awards also celebrated emerging talent with Jesse Billington winning Automotive Rising Star (Journalist), sponsored by Suzuki. Yousuf Ashraf was named Road Tester of the year. Paul Horrell received recognition as the best Automotive Technology Writer, highlighting innovation in automotive reporting.
Adam Shorrock was awarded for his exceptional work as an Automotive Photographer. CAR magazine won the Automotive Video category, sponsored by the Marcus Rutherford Foundation. Erin Baker stood out by winning both EV Writer, sponsored by Kia, and Automotive Editor awards.
Honouring PR Excellence
Kia's Will Rees was named Rising PR Star, while Dan Sayles from Kia won the Automotive PR award supported by WOMAC. The Kia press office also received accolades for its outstanding performance. Classic Car Weekly was recognised as the top Automotive Consumer Publication.
The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Alun Parry for his significant contributions to motoring journalism over the years. Electrifying.com was named EV Publication of the year, reflecting its impact on electric vehicle reporting.
Acknowledging Judging Panel Efforts
The judging panel played a crucial role in this year's awards. Trevor Adams, a renowned celebrity photographer who runs Matrix Media Ltd., led a team of esteemed judges including Graham Hope, John Nolan, John Kendall, Rebecca Leppard, Mike Rutherford, and Denis Chick. Their expertise ensured a fair evaluation of all entries.
Graham Hope has extensive experience in automotive journalism with roles at Auto Express and Mazda Stories. John Nolan brought his expertise from North One Television where he launched channels like Audi Channel on Sky and Virgin.
