New Skoda Octavia Revealed – Mild-Hybrid Engine, New Tech & A Lot More
Skoda has recently lifted the veil on the mid-life update of the Octavia, introducing a blend of technological advancements and sustainability-focused enhancements. This revamp is particularly noteworthy as Octavia has been a significant player in the Indian market.
In fact, Skoda has managed to sell more than 1 lakh units of Skoda Octavia sedan in India. However, the discontinuation of this model in India, due to stringent RDE regulations, has left fans in suspense about its return with these latest updates.

Design and Tech
The facelifted Octavia debuts with a refreshed design that sets it apart within the Skoda lineup. Its more angular LED headlights, positioned above a pronounced crease on the front bumper, subtly nod to the Czech Republic's flag.
Inside, the Octavia sees considerable upgrades, most notably the addition of a new 13-inch infotainment touchscreen. This screen, an optional feature shared with the Volkswagen Golf's recent update, incorporates ChatGPT artificial intelligence in its voice assistant, enhancing user interaction.

Charging options have seen a significant improvement as well. The introduction of the 'Phone Box' allows for up to 15W of wireless charging, complete with air conditioning to counteract any heat generated. Furthermore, the USB-C ports now offer 45W of power.
Powertrain
The base model's 1.5-litre engine features a revamped turbocharger to reduce thermal losses and enhance fuel efficiency. It comes with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard but can also be equipped with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, incorporating a 48V mild-hybrid system - Allowing the vehicle to coast with the engine off, further conserving fuel.

The Octavia's powertrain lineup is rounded off with a range-topping vRS model, which inherits the turbocharged 2.0-litre engine from the VW Golf GTI. This configuration delivers 263bhp and 370Nm to the front wheels via a seven-speed automatic gearbox.
Skoda's Indian Portfolio
In the meantime, Skoda continues to maintain a presence in India with three models: the Slavia sedan, Kushaq midsize SUV, and the Kodiaq SUV. The brand has also announced plans to launch the Enyaq iV electric SUV in the latter half of this year and is developing a compact SUV slated for release next year.
As Skoda evolves its global lineup with technological and sustainability-focused updates, the Indian market watches closely, anticipating the return of beloved models like the Octavia and the introduction of new electric vehicles.
