New Nissan Patrol SUV Debuts Globally: Design, Technology, & Performance Converge
Nissan has introduced the latest Patrol SUV, which will be marketed as the Nissan Armada in certain regions. This new model boasts a revamped platform, modern exterior and interior designs, and an array of advanced technologies.

The new Nissan Patrol's exterior now features a more robust and angular look, highlighted by a broad grille, vertically aligned headlamps, and a bumper design reminiscent of the Range Rover.

Inside, the Patrol is adorned with soft-touch materials and faux brushed aluminium trim. It also includes dual 14.3-inch screens for both instrumentation and infotainment purposes. Additional amenities encompass a wireless charging pad, USB-C ports accessible from all seating rows, a head-up display, gesture control for the infotainment system, and a 360-degree camera.
Other interior highlights include soft-touch materials throughout the cabin, faux brushed aluminium trim accents, and two large 14.3-inch displays for instrumentation and infotainment systems, wireless charging capabilities, USB-C ports available in all rows for easy device connectivity, a head-up display for vital driving information, and gesture control.
New Nissan Patrol: Engine and Performance
The new Patrol is powered by a 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine that delivers 425hp. This engine is coupled with full-time four-wheel drive and a 9-speed automatic transmission. The SUV is built on an evolved version of the Y62 Patrol platform and features adaptive air suspension along with terrain modes to handle various driving conditions.
Nissan has also rolled out an off-road-centric variant named the Pro-4X. This version comes equipped with 20-inch all-terrain tyres, adaptive air suspension, a metal skid plate, and a rear electronic-locking differential. The Pro-4X is designed to compete with rugged models like the Land Cruiser 250 in North America.
Market Considerations
Although Nissan had previously contemplated launching the older generation Patrol in India, it ultimately decided against it. However, if introduced in India, the new Patrol could pose significant competition to Toyota's Land Cruiser 300 due to its advanced features and robust performance capabilities.
The Pro-4X variant is particularly noteworthy for its off-road enhancements such as 20-inch all-terrain tyres and adaptive air suspension tailored for rugged terrains. It also includes practical additions like a metal skid plate for underbody protection and a rear electronic-locking differential to improve traction on challenging surfaces.
