Mahindra Introduces New XUV700 MX Variant At Rs 15 Lakh: Budget-Friendly 7-Seater
Mahindra has launched a new variant of its popular XUV700 SUV, making the seven-seater model more accessible to buyers. The new entry-level MX variant of the XUV700, equipped with a diesel engine and a 7-seat configuration, is priced at Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom).
This pricing strategy allows it to be significantly more budget-friendly, undercutting the previous AX3 7-seater variant by Rs 3 lakh. The move aims to broaden the appeal of the XUV700 among families looking for an affordable yet feature-packed SUV.
The XUV700 MX 7-seater comes with a price tag that is Rs 40,000 higher than its 5-seater counterpart, which is available for Rs 14.60 lakh (ex-showroom). Despite the addition of two extra seats, the MX 7-seater retains the same mechanical and feature set as the 5-seater model.
Highlights include an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, Android Auto, four speakers, and a suite of convenience features such as multiple USB ports, tilt-adjustable steering, and powered ORVMs.
Under the hood, the XUV700 MX 7-seater is powered by a 156bhp, 2.2-litre diesel engine paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. This is the same powertrain found in the MX 5-seater version. Mahindra might also offer the 7-seater with the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol mill that is currently available in the 5-seater variant.
Prospective buyers can choose from five colour options, including Everest white, Midnight black, and Dazzling red. This strategic addition to the XUV700 lineup not only makes it more affordable but also enhances the brand's premium offering with the recent launch of the higher-spec XUV700 Blaze.

The starting price point of the XUV700 now undercuts that of its competitors, such as the Tata Safari, priced at Rs 16.19 lakh (ex-showroom), and the seven-seat diesel version of the MG Hector Plus, priced at Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom), making the Mahindra XUV700 a more attractive option for buyers in the market for a large, three-row SUV.
