New-Gen Honda Amaze Vs Old Amaze: Features & Specs Compared
The Honda Amaze has undergone a significant transformation in design and features, yet its mechanical aspects remain unchanged. Recently launched with ranging from Rs 8.00 lakh to Rs 10.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India), the new Amaze showcases a fresh look inspired by the City and Elevate models. This update brings notable enhancements in equipment while retaining the same engine and transmission options.Exterior Design
Externally, the new Amaze sports a more refined appearance compared to its predecessor. The front fascia now resembles that of the Elevate, offering a cleaner and more cohesive look. The grille is larger, headlamps are sleeker, and chrome usage is reduced. These changes contribute to a modern and mature stance, contrasting with the busier design of the older model.
In profile, initial impressions suggest minimal changes between the old and new models. However, upon closer inspection, sharper character lines become evident along the car's length. The introduction of 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels further distinguishes the new Amaze from its predecessor. Additionally, wheel arches are slightly more pronounced, and wing mirrors have been repositioned from the pillar to the door.
The rear of the Amaze draws inspiration from the City model as well. It now features sleek rectangular tail lamps instead of the previous bulbous ones. The bumper adopts a single-tone finish without chrome trim, enhancing its streamlined appearance.
Interior and Features
The interior of the new Amaze has also seen substantial updates. It shares similarities with the Elevate SUV's clean and layered design. A free-standing touchscreen replaces the integrated dashboard unit, with AC vents relocated below it. The steering wheel is chunkier with added buttons for improved functionality.
The dual-tone black and beige theme continues inside but with a new textured trim on the dashboard incorporating AC vents instead of silver garnishes. Noteworthy additions include a wireless charging shelf in the centre console area and a 7-inch digital MID replacing an analogue tachometer dial.
Engine Specifications
Mechanically, there are no changes in this iteration of the Amaze. It retains its familiar 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 90hp and 110Nm torque output as before. Transmission options remain either a 5-speed manual or CVT automatic; however, paddle shifters have been introduced for manual control on automatics.
Fuel efficiency claims stand at 18.65kpl for manual variants while CVT automatics return slightly better mileage at 19.46kpl—an improvement over previous versions by approximately 1.16kpl.
Dimensions
Dimensionally speaking: length (3,995m), height (1,500mm), wheelbase (2,470mm) remain identical across both generations; however, width increases by about 38mm and boot space reduced by 4 litres in terms of overall capacity.
The new Honda Amaze competes against models like Maruti Dzire Hyundai Aura Tata Tigor within Indian market space today offering consumers enhanced styling updated technology alongside traditional reliability associated with the brand name itself.
