New Ford Everest Is Coming To India: More Globalised Than Ever Before
The eagerly awaited launch of the new Ford Everest is set to rekindle Ford's presence in India and enrich the full-size SUV market, currently dominated by the Toyota Fortuner. As such, here are a few things you need to know.
A New Era For Ford In India
Ford India will adopt the global 'Everest’ nameplate, moving away from the 'Endeavour’ badge used previously due to trademark issues. This shift towards a unified global branding strategy is expected to bolster the brand's image and reduce the costs associated with the localization of badges, logos, and nameplates.

Design & Features
The new Ford Everest continues with a robust and masculine design philosophy, featuring a more pronounced boxy front end complemented by a large grille and new Matrix LED headlights. The SUV's design is characterized by a squarer silhouette, enhancing its rugged appeal.
Inside, the Everest raises the bar with a modern interior that hosts an array of technological enhancements and comfort features. Depending on the variant, the SUV is equipped with either an 8.0-inch or a 12.0-inch touchscreen display, surrounded by high-quality materials.
The top-spec trim of the upcoming Ford Everest SUV impresses with features like ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and more, ensuring a blend of luxury and practicality.
Manufacturing & Availability
Initially, the Everest will be available as a completely built unit under the 2500-unit import rule. This strategic decision allows Ford to reintroduce the Everest to the Indian market swiftly.
There are plans to commence local assembly of the SUV at Ford's Chennai factory, aiming for a start in the next year or by early 2026. This approach positions the Everest as a strong competitor in its segment.
Powertrain Options
The Ford Everest will come with a choice of powerful diesel engines. The range starts with a 2.0-litre single-turbo diesel engine, followed by a more potent bi-turbo version, and tops out with a 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel, offering a diverse selection to meet various preferences and needs.
All engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, with the 2.0-litre variants available in both 4x2 and 4x4 configurations, while the 3.0-litre V6 exclusively features a full-time 4x4 system.
DriveSpark Thinks
With its robust design, advanced technology, and a range of engine options, the Ford Everest is set to offer a compelling choice for SUV enthusiasts in India. Its arrival marks a significant milestone in Ford's journey in the country, promising to deliver a blend of performance, luxury, and versatility.
