New Ford Endeavour Vs Old Endeavour: Top 5 Differences You Need To Know
Ford Motor will soon make its re-entry to the Indian market with the new Ford Endeavour SUV. However, this is not an updated version of the previous Endeavour SUV sold in India but an all-new model.
As such, here's a quick comparison between the upcoming new Ford Endeavour SUV and the older Ford Endeavour SUV that was previously manufactured and sold in India. In this comparison, we will talk about powertrain, exterior and interior design, features and dimensions.
Dimensions
The new Ford Endeavour SUV is a substantially bigger SUV than the previous model sold in India. This upcoming model measures 4,914mm long, 2,015mm wide, 1,842mm tall, and sports a massive wheelbase of 2,900mm.
Though the older Ford Endeavour is also a large imposing SUV, its dimensions get dwarfed in front of the newer model. This model measures 4,903mm long, 1,869mm wide, 1,837mm tall, and sports a wheelbase of 2,850mm.
Exterior Design
While the older Ford Endeavour was an imposing SUV, the upcoming new Endeavour takes the word "imposing" to a whole new level with its boxier front section consisting of a bigger grille, large C-shaped LED headlamps, and more rugged-looking front bumper.
The rear of the updated model also looks a lot more sophisticated with its new LED taillamps, and a more upright rear section. Also, the newer model gets a more prominent-looking shoulder line, which makes the SUV look a lot more muscular.
Interior Design
When it comes to interior design, the new Ford Endeavour takes the game at least a couple of notches forward with its large vertically oriented 12-inch touchscreen infotainment unit. Furthermore, the interior continues to sport plenty of horizontal elements to accentuate the width of the cabin.
That being said, the interior of the older-generation Ford Endeavour is not too bad either. It still looks rock solid and premium with plenty of horizontal elements and a two-tone theme. However, its smaller 8-inch infotainment unit and part analogue instrument cluster gives away its age.
Features
As mentioned, the new Ford Endeavour gets a much bigger 12-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and a fully digital instrument cluster. On top of that, the model also gets features such as ventilated front seats, cooled glove box, a 10-way power adjustable driver's seat, power folding 3rd-row seats, connected car tech and much more.
Powertrain
At the end of its life cycle in India, the Ford Endeavour was powered by a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine with 168bhp and 420Nm of torque. This engine came mated to a 10-speed transmission.
Prior to this, the model was even offered with a 3.2-litre, 5-cylinder turbo diesel engine with 196bhp and 470Nm of peak torque. This engine came mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission as standard.
In comparison, the upcoming new Ford Endeavour will be offered with two engine options. The base 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine with 168bhp and a more powerful bi-turbo version with 203bhp.
There is also a strong possibility of a 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel engine making its way to India. This engine according to Ford puts out 245bhp and 600Nm of torque. Also, all new models will come mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Thoughts About The New Ford Endeavour SUV
If launched, we expect the upcoming new Ford Endeavour SUV to have a significant impact on the sales of the Toyota Fortuner SUV in India. This will either force Toyota to reduce the prices of the Fortuner SUV or launch a more affordable SUV.
