Ford Mustang Mach-E And F-150 Receive Top Safety Awards From IIHS For 2024 Models
The 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E and the 2024-25 F-150 have been awarded top safety honours by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The Mustang Mach-E, specifically models produced after August 2024, earned the TOP SAFETY PICK+ award. Meanwhile, the F-150 pickup trucks built after September 2024 received the TOP SAFETY PICK award.
These accolades highlight Ford's commitment to safety excellence. Bob Holycross, Ford’s chief sustainability, environment and safety officer, stated, "Our rigorous internal safety evaluations ensure Ford and Lincoln products meet the highest standards." He emphasised their dedication to creating safe experiences for all road users.

To qualify for a TOP SAFETY PICK award, vehicles must achieve good ratings in both small overlap front tests and updated side tests. They also need an acceptable or good rating in the original moderate front test. Additionally, they require acceptable or good ratings in pedestrian front crash prevention and headlights across all trims.
The criteria for receiving a TOP SAFETY PICK+ award are even more stringent. Vehicles must earn an acceptable or good rating in the updated moderate front test. These awards reflect a vehicle's performance in IIHS' demanding crashworthiness and crash-avoidance assessments.
Ford's recent achievements add to its impressive safety record. Earlier this year, both the 2024 Ford Explorer and 2024 Lincoln Nautilus were recognised with TOP SAFETY PICK+ awards. This demonstrates Ford's ongoing commitment to enhancing vehicle safety standards.
Recognition from Multiple Agencies
All Ford models that received IIHS safety awards also achieved five-star safety ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). However, it's important to note that the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus was not tested by NHTSA and thus does not have a rating.
These latest awards underscore Ford's dedication to continuous improvement in vehicle safety. The company remains focused on designing vehicles that provide safe experiences for customers and other road users alike.
