Mitsubishi Motors North America Marks Five-Year Anniversary In Tennessee With Community Impact And Future Growth Plans

Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) is celebrating five years in Tennessee, marking a significant milestone since relocating from Cypress, California, in 2019. This move has greatly impacted the local community by creating around 180 jobs and boosting economic growth. MMNA, along with its dealer partners, employs over 8,000 people across the United States.

Shortly after moving to Franklin, MMNA occupied the top floors of a new building in Cool Springs. Over these five years, the company has achieved notable business successes. These include launching key vehicles and achieving record sales figures. The Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in Hybrid has been central to this success, earning several awards and recognitions.

The Outlander Plug-in Hybrid recently won Green Car Journal's Family Green Car of the Year for the third time in a row. It also received the 2024 MotorWeek Drivers' Choice Award for Best Small Utility and Puros Autos' Latin Flavor SUV of the Year. Additionally, it was named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

These accolades highlight Mitsubishi's dedication to innovation and eco-friendly solutions. "We are incredibly proud of what we've accomplished here in Tennessee over the past five years," said Mark Chaffin, President & CEO of MMNA. "Our commitment to growing our business while creating jobs and supporting the local community has been a cornerstone of our operations."

MMNA's contributions extend beyond business achievements. In 2023, they partnered with Tucker's House, a nonprofit aiding families with disabled children in Middle Tennessee. They provided a 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in Hybrid SUV through their Community Utility Vehicle (CUV) program to support this cause.

This partnership exemplifies MMNA's corporate social responsibility initiative, "Driving Confidence, Driving Community." The CUV program also supported other nonprofits like Nashville's Community Resource Center after a tornado and Charis Health Center by powering medical freezers for COVID vaccines.

Future Plans: Momentum 2030

In May, MMNA unveiled its "Momentum 2030" business plan. This strategy aims to introduce new vehicles and expand dealer partnerships nationwide. The plan includes modernizing retail sales models and incorporating advanced technology into car buying.

"Momentum 2030" will see job creation and increased community engagement throughout Tennessee. The product line will nearly double by introducing new or refreshed models annually until 2030.

Commitment to Growth and Development

MMNA's success in Tennessee reflects its focus on innovation and customer satisfaction. By delivering exceptional vehicles like the Outlander and Eclipse Cross while fostering strong community ties, MMNA has become a key contributor to Tennessee's economy.

Mitsubishi Motors North America operates through approximately 330 dealer partners across the U.S., handling sales, marketing, and customer service for Mitsubishi vehicles. Their headquarters are located in Franklin, Tennessee, with additional operations in California, Georgia, Michigan, and New Jersey.
