Mitchell Mazda, a family-run dealership in Chester, is celebrating 20 years of success since joining the Mazda UK dealer network in 2004. Known for its exceptional customer care, the dealership has built a strong reputation in the North West of England. This month, they received a commemorative plaque to mark this significant milestone.

Mark Mitchell DL, Managing Director at Mitchell Group, expressed pride in their achievements over the past two decades. The dealership's unique culture and low staff turnover contribute significantly to its success. With an average length of service of 16 years among employees, Mitchell Mazda ensures continuity and familiarity for its customers. Phil Abram, Mazda Service Manager with nearly 20 years’ service, highlighted their commitment to customer service: "We are passionate about customer service and value our loyal customer base. Whether an individual is already familiar with us or new to the dealership, we want to ensure they are a customer for life."

One of their standout initiatives is the complimentary Saturday car wash, which has been running since 2001. Abram noted that this service helps maintain close relationships with customers and high retention rates. "Most weeks, we welcome towards 100 cars and their owners," he added.

Mitchell Mazda also places a strong emphasis on giving back to the community. Each year, they donate 10 per cent of their profits to various charities and projects. Additionally, they organise annual fundraising events like a Christmas carol celebration at Chester Cathedral to support local food banks and other causes.

The dealership extends its charitable efforts globally through a partnership with World Vision. This scheme allows colleagues to sponsor children in developing countries via payroll deductions, providing them with essential healthcare and education.

Employee Longevity

Brian Blanchard, Mazda Brand Manager with 27 years’ service, shared insights into their annual Ride Out Day for MX-5 owners. For 17 years, this event has attracted over 120 customers each year for a day of open-top motoring across Cheshire and North Wales. Blanchard remarked that some owners travel up to 150 miles to participate.

The dealership's purpose-built five-acre site at Cheshire Oaks features a 16-car showroom and a 20-bay workshop. Customers can enjoy complimentary hot breakfast rolls and refreshments while waiting for their cars to be serviced in the first-class lounge.

Acknowledging Milestones

Jeremy Thomson, Managing Director at Mazda UK, presented the commemorative plaque and praised Mitchell Mazda's dedication over the past two decades. He stated: "It’s an absolute pleasure to be at Mitchell Mazda and to recognise the hard work, dedication and commitment demonstrated by Mark Mitchell and the team over the last two decades." Thomson also highlighted their impressive customer retention performance within the UK network.

Reflecting on their journey since launching in 2004, Mark Mitchell acknowledged his team's contributions: "Achieving this significant milestone wouldn’t be possible without the exceptional team here – it’s our people who make the difference." He fondly recalled their launch event featuring lookalikes of famous personalities like 'Del Boy', 'Michael Schumacher', 'Victoria' and 'David Beckham'.

Today, Mitchell Mazda employs 27 team members under the Mazda umbrella, with 30 per cent having been there since its inception in 2004. Their enduring commitment continues to drive success as they look forward to future milestones.
