Misano: Second Victory Overall For Gorini & Tamburini’s LP Racing Maserati GT2 In Fanatec GT2 European Series Championship
Italian duo Leonardo Gorini and Carlo Tamburini secured their second victory in the Fanatec GT2 European Series Powered by Pirelli at the Misano World Circuit. The LP Racing team's Maserati GT2, driven by Gorini and Tamburini, finished as runners-up in Race 2, solidifying their position at the top of the overall and ProAm standings. Philippe Prette of the LP Racing team claimed third place in Race 1, winning the Am class. Alexandre Leroy of TFT Racing took first place in the same class in Race 2, propelling him to the top of the category standings. The Modena cars showcased exceptional performance throughout the races. Gorini and Tamburini's decision to make an early pit stop paid off, allowing them to maintain control of the race and secure victory in Race 1. In Race 2, Tamburini started from pole position but dropped to fifth after the driver change. However, Gorini staged an impressive comeback, finishing as the runner-up. Leroy engaged in a thrilling duel for fourth place overall, ultimately securing fifth place and leading the Am class. Unfortunately, Prette was involved in an accident early on in Race 2 and had to retire. With these results, Gorini and Tamburini now lead the overall standings of the 2024 Fanatec GT2 European Series Powered by Pirelli and the ProAm category. Leroy is currently leading the Am class ahead of Prette. The next round of the series will take place in Spa, Belgium, from May 25 to 30.Giovanni Sgro, Head of Maserati Corse, expressed his satisfaction with Maserati's success in the races.
