MINI USA And JCW Team Score Consecutive Wins At Road America

MINI USA and the MINI John Cooper Works Team showcased their prowess during the fifth race weekend of the 2024 SRO TC America series. They achieved two first-place finishes at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. This follows their impressive performance at Virginia International Raceway (VIR) in Week 4, where they secured five podiums, including a Race 2 victory.

The team’s success at Road America continues from last year when they earned four podiums: one first place, one second place, and two third places. This year, Cristian Perocarpi drove the #37 MINI JCW PRO to both first-place finishes in the Touring Car (TC) class. He was joined by teammate Scott Thomson in the #66 MINI JCW PRO. Additionally, P.J. Groenke and Bruce Myrehn competed in the Touring Car A (TCA) class with the #62 and #63 MINI JCWs respectively.

To emphasise MINI’s renowned support for owner customisation, the #37 MINI JCW PRO driven by Perocarpi featured a unique rooftop graphic this weekend. The team also benefited from the expertise of three MINI dealer technicians through the MINI Technician Race Crew Program. Technicians from MINI of Des Moines, International MINI, and MINI of Orlando supported the team throughout practice, qualifying, and race days.

"We’re in the back half of the season now and every podium counts," said Luis Perocarpi, team owner of LAP Motorsports. "To bring home two victories in one weekend is a massive step toward success. This group of drivers continues to prove that they’re capable of great things, and we’ll be ready to keep the momentum going in September."

The MINI JCW Race Team has two more race weekends before concluding the season. The next event will take place at Barber Motorsports Park from September 6 – 8, followed by the series finale at Indianapolis Motor Speedway from October 3 – 6. Last season, the team finished as runner-up for both the Manufacturer’s Championship and Team Championship.

The full-time crew at Road America was complemented by more than 20 qualified MINI dealer technicians last season. These technicians were voted Crew of the Year by series participants and competitors for their exceptional support.
