MINI JCW Team Sets Sights On Victory At Barber Motorsports Park

MINI USA and the MINI John Cooper Works Team are gearing up for the sixth race weekend of the 2024 SRO TC America series at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama. This marks the first visit to the 2.38-mile track for both the team and the series, and it is also the penultimate race of the season.

Two weeks ago, Cristian Perocarpi achieved double victories in the Touring Car (TC) class at Road America while driving the #37 MINI JCW PRO. He will continue to drive this car alongside teammate Scott Thomson in the #66 MINI JCW PRO. P.J. Groenke will join them in the #62 MINI JCW in the Touring Car A (TCA) class. Groenke is unique among his teammates as he has prior racing experience at Barber Motorsports Park.

MINI JCW Eyes Win at Barber Park

"The team is ready to give it their all at Barber Motorsports Park this weekend and continue our successful campaign during the 2024 season," said Luis Perocarpi, team owner, LAP Motorsports. "Cristian and Scott have been working closely with P.J. given his experience at the track to understand all the unique turns and elevation changes they will face this weekend."

This weekend, Perocarpi’s #37 MINI JCW PRO will feature a special rooftop graphic, showcasing MINI’s support for owner customization. The full-time crew at Barber Motorsports Park will be joined by a MINI dealer technician from MINI of Dallas as part of the MINI Technician Race Crew Program. This initiative allows dealer technicians to support the team during practice, qualifying, and race days throughout each race weekend.

The expertise of these technicians, who work on MINIs daily, is invaluable to the race team. Last season, over 20 qualified MINI dealer technicians supported the team, which was voted Crew of the Year by series participants and competitors.

Looking Ahead

The final race of the 2024 season will be held at Indianapolis Motor Speedway from October 3 to 6. The MINI JCW Race Team finished as runner-up in both the Manufacturer’s Championship and Team Championship in last year's SRO TC America Series.
