MINI JCW Racing Team Eyes Victory At Road America Following VIR Success
MINI USA and the MINI John Cooper Works Team are preparing for Week 5 of the 2024 SRO TC America series at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. The team is coming off a successful weekend at Virginia International Raceway (VIR), where they secured five podium finishes, including a victory by Cristian Perocarpi in Race 2.
The team aims to build on their previous success at Road America, where they achieved four podiums last season. This included one first place, one second place, and two third place finishes. "We had tremendous success at Road America last season so we have a strong plan in place for our talented group of drivers," said Luis Perocarpi, team owner of LAP Motorsports. "We hope to finish strong again this season and bring home a few podiums for the MINI team."
Cristian Perocarpi will once again drive the #37 MINI JCW PRO alongside Scott Thomson in the #66 MINI JCW PRO in the Touring Car (TC) class. They will be joined by P.J. Groenke in the #62 MINI JCW and Bruce Myrehn in the #63 MINI JCW in the Touring Car A (TCA) class.
This weekend, MINI USA and the MINI JCW Team will feature a special rooftop graphic on the roof of the #37 MINI JCW PRO driven by Perocarpi. Known for their distinctive white roofs, MINI vehicles continue to offer roof graphics and multi-tone roofs to support owner customization.
The full-time crew at Road America will be supported by three MINI dealer technicians as part of the MINI Technician Race Crew Program. These technicians assist during practice, qualifying, and race days throughout the weekend. This weekend's support comes from technicians from MINI of Des Moines, International MINI, and MINI of Orlando.
Last season, more than 20 qualified MINI dealer technicians supported the team, which was also voted Crew of the Year by series participants and competitors. The expertise these technicians bring from working on MINIs daily is invaluable to the race team's performance.
