MG Windsor EV All Variants Explained In Detail

MG has introduced the Windsor in India, marking its third electric vehicle (EV) offering after the Comet and ZS EV. The crossover-style electric hatchback starts at an introductory price of Rs 9.99 lakh, excluding the battery. Additionally, MG offers a unique pay-as-you-drive battery rental scheme at Rs 3.5 per kilometre driven.

MG Windsor Variants

The Windsor is available in three variants: Excite, Exclusive, and Essence. All variants feature a front-mounted electric motor that delivers 136hp and 200Nm of peak torque. The EV is equipped with a 38kWh battery pack, providing a claimed range of 331km on a single charge.

The base variant, Excite, is priced at Rs 9.99 lakh and includes features such as LED projector headlamps with DRLs, LED tail lamps, illuminated front logo, and 17-inch steel wheels with wheel covers. It also comes with flush door handles, a glass antenna, front armrest, fabric seats with a 60:40 rear seat split, and adjustable headrests for both front and rear seats.

MG Windsor Excite

The Excite variant boasts a range of features including LED luggage lamp, rear AC vents, LED front reading light, and a 10.1-inch touchscreen with steering-mounted controls. It supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto through six speakers. Charging options include a 3.3kW portable charging cable and a 3.3kW AC home charging box.

Additional features include reclining rear seats, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, manual height adjustment for the driver's seat, cruise control, auto climate control, electrically adjustable ORVMs (Outside Rear View Mirrors), six airbags, ESP (Electronic Stability Program), Hill-Start Assist Control, Hill Descent Control, LED cornering lights, front and rear disc brakes, electronic parking brake with auto hold function, rain-sensing wipers, auto headlamps and TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System).

MG Windsor Exclusive

The Exclusive variant adds several enhancements over the Excite model. It includes 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and chrome window beltline for added style. The interior is upgraded with leatherette materials on the steering wheel, dashboard and seats. Additional features include LED rear reading lights and an enlarged 15.6-inch touchscreen paired with an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster.

This variant also offers an electrically adjustable driver's seat and smart flush door handles along with power-folding ORVMs. Comfort is further enhanced by a rear armrest with cupholder and advanced tech like a 360-degree camera system.

MG Windsor Essence

The top-tier Essence variant builds upon the Exclusive model by adding ambient lighting for an enhanced cabin atmosphere along with a PM2.5 filter for improved air quality inside the car. The audio experience is elevated by an Infinity nine-speaker audio system.

Charging convenience is increased with a faster 7.4kW AC charger included in this variant. Other premium features include a glass roof for an open-air feel and ventilated front seats to ensure comfort during hot weather.

The MG Windsor faces competition from other electric SUVs like Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400 as well as the newly launched Curvv EV despite having no direct rivals in its segment.
