MG Windsor EV: Top 5 Things You Need To Know
MG Motor India is set to launch the Windsor EV. This crossover-style MPV, known as the Wuling Cloud EV in Indonesia, will be MG's third EV in India after the Comet and ZS EV. As we anticipate its debut soon, here are some key things about this upcoming electric vehicle.
Rebranded Cloud EV
The Windsor EV is essentially a rebranded version of the Wuling Cloud EV. It combines elements of a large hatchback and an MPV, measuring approximately 4.3 metres in length with a 2,700mm wheelbase. Despite its MPV-like appearance, it offers seating for five people across two rows.

Interior Features
The MG Windsor EV maximises interior space with a minimalist design. It features a large floating touchscreen for most controls, reducing the need for physical buttons. The international model includes front seats that can fully recline into "sofa mode," and teaser videos have shown a panoramic sunroof and an ADAS suite with a 360-degree camera.

Battery Options and Range
The Windsor EV offers two battery pack options overseas: a 37.9kWh pack providing a range of 360km and a 50.6kWh pack offering up to 460km. It is powered by a front-axle mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 134hp. However, it is yet to be confirmed which variant will be available in India.

Comparison with the ZS EV
The ZS EV and Windsor EV differ significantly in their design and platform. While the ZS EV is based on an updated internal combustion engine platform with an SUV design, the Windsor EV uses a born-electric skateboard platform featuring short overhangs and a long wheelbase. Their interiors also have distinct designs.

Expected Price & Launch Date
MG aims to localise many components of the Windsor EV, including the battery pack, to keep costs down. Sources suggest that MG plans to price it below Rs 20 lakh in India, positioning it competitively against models like the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400. Although an exact launch date hasn't been announced, it's expected to debut by late August or early September.
