MG Windsor EV: Top 5 Things You Need To Know

MG has introduced the new Windsor EV in India, with prices starting at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings for the Windsor will open on October 3, and deliveries are set to begin on October 12. The car boasts a claimed range of 331 km and features such as 135-degree reclining rear seats and a panoramic glass roof.

The Windsor is available in three trims: Excite, Exclusive, and Essence. It comes in four colours: Starburst Black, Pearl White, Clay Beige, and Turquoise Green.

MG Windsor EV: Exterior Design

The Windsor has a minimalist design typical of an MPV but accommodates only five passengers across two rows. It features flush door handles, clean surfaces, and full-width LED light bars at both ends. The front-end design includes headlamps mounted on the bumper for a unique look.

The vehicle also has a large glasshouse wrapping around the rear, extended quarter glass sections, and steeply raked front and rear windscreens. Chrome accents are present along the windows, door sills, and bumpers. It rides on stylish 18-inch alloy wheels with a 5-spoke design.

MG Windsor EV: Interior Features

The interior continues the minimalist theme with black finishes and copper highlights. A large 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system dominates the dashboard, accompanied by an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster. The front seat backrests can fully recline to create "aero lounge seats" with a 135-degree recline.

The flat floor and large floating centre console with cupholders make good use of space due to its born electric platform. Unlike overseas models where all controls are on-screen, the Indian version thankfully includes physical buttons for HVAC controls below the central screen.

MG Windsor EV: Features & Safety Tech

The Windsor offers wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, rear AC vents, ventilated front seats, powered driver's seat, a 9-speaker Infinity sound system, panoramic glass roof, ambient lighting, and more.

Safety features include six airbags, ABS with EBD, all four disk brakes, front and rear parking sensors, ESC (Electronic Stability Control), and a 360-degree camera.

MG Windsor EV: Battery Specifications

The Windsor is powered by a 38kWh LFP battery with prismatic cells offering a claimed range of 331 km. The motor mounted on the front axle produces 136 hp and 200 Nm of torque. It also includes four driving modes: Eco+, Eco, Normal, and Sport.

MG claims that fast charging at 45kW can charge the battery from 0 to 80 percent in just 55 minutes. Additionally, it will be available with 3.3kW and 7.7kW AC chargers that can fully charge the battery in about 14 hours and 6.5 hours respectively.

MG Windsor EV: Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) Model

An interesting aspect of the Windsor is its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model. This means that buyers can rent the battery separately, paying Rs 3.5 per kilometre driven. MG claims this approach reduces the initial purchase cost and lowers per-kilometre expenses.

MG offers a lifetime warranty for the battery with unlimited kilometres for first-time buyers of the vehicle. Additionally, free public charging will be available for one year.
