500 EV Chargers Installed By MG Motor In Just 500 Days

MG Motor India has achieved a significant milestone in its eco-friendly journey by setting up over 15,000 charging spots across the nation, inclusive of public and home charging stations.

This move is part of the British automotive brand's broader initiative to support and accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in India. In a remarkable feat, MG Motor has successfully installed 500 chargers nationwide within just 500 days under its MG Charge project, launched in 2022.

The ambitious MG Charge project aims to install 1,000 charging points within 1,000 days, focusing on accessible locations such as apartments, condos, and societies. Gaurav Gupta, Chief Growth Officer at MG Motor India, highlighted the company's goal to create a comprehensive EV ecosystem.

"MG aspires to do more than provide advanced electric vehicles. This landmark of installing 500 chargers in as many days underscores MG Charge's vision of creating a robust EV ecosystem that not only supports but propels the widespread embrace of green mobility," Gupta stated.

MG Motor India has partnered with companies like Exicom Telesystems, ElectreeFi, EchargerBays, Ionage, Statiq, and Highway Delite to deploy 7.4kW chargers across 50 major cities, achieving an average of one installation per day. This initiative reflects MG's commitment to promoting green mobility in the country.

Beyond charger installation, MG is focused on developing a comprehensive network for EV support. The collaboration with industry partners such as Glida, TPCL, BPCL, Jio-bp, Statiq, Zeon, and ChargeZone aims to enhance the EV infrastructure significantly.

MG is also engaged in sustainable practices like battery recycling and reuse, in partnership with Attero and Lohum, and has joined the Shoonya – Zero Pollution Mobility campaign, led by NITI Aayog, to contribute to a pollution-free future.

MG's commitment extends to green manufacturing and talent development within the EV sector. Renewable energy sources supply half of the energy used in their manufacturing processes, leading to a 36 percent reduction in CO2 emissions.

The brand's EV models, ZS and Comet, have significantly contributed to its sales, with over 25,000 units sold. MG Motor India's initiatives are driving the country towards a greener and cleaner future, one charger at a time.
