Upcoming MG Gloster Facelift To Debut On June 5 – Likely To Get Level-2 ADAS
The MG Gloster is currently the only direct rival to the Toyota Fortuner SUV in India. However, despite having only one competitor, the Gloster SUV is nowhere near the sales figures churned by the Fortuner. As such, in a bid to catch some lost ground, MG is planning to launch the Gloster facelift SUV in the Indian market.
That being said, the upcoming facelifted version of the MG Gloster SUV was recently spotted testing in India. However, not many details could be extracted as the test mule was wearing heavy camouflage.
Thanks to the use of substantial camouflage, we expect the upcoming MG Gloster facelift to feature equally substantial visual upgrades as well. We expected this to be true as the Maxus D90 SUV (rebadged version of the MG Gloster) sold in Australia recently received a major visual facelift as well.
However, a recently released teaser paints a different picture. Decoding the teaser, we expect MG Motor India to make minor revisions to the exterior, but we do expect the upcoming Gloster facelift to feature a few upgrades in the interior.
These upgrades to the interior may include better upholstery, a few additional features to aid passenger convenience, and driver safety upgrades. Primary among these upgrades is likely to be the inclusion of Level 2 ADAS tech.
As a result, the upcoming MG Gloster facelift SUV will come with semi-autonomous driving capability - A feature that is extremely useful to combat driver fatigue while travelling long distances.
At present, the outgoing version of the MG Gloster SUV is available in both 2WD and 4WD variants. The former is powered by a 2.0-litre, turbocharged, diesel engine with 160bhp and 375Nm, whereas the 4WD variant sports a 2.0-litre, twin-turbocharged, diesel engine with 212.5bhp and 480Nm.
That being said, both the 2WD and 4WD variants of the MG Gloster SUV come with an 8-speed automatic gearbox as standard. The latter even comes with multiple terrain modes for better off-roadability over various types of surfaces.
Though the powertrain in the MG Gloster SUV is plenty powerful, MG could even introduce a new powertrain with partial electrification for better efficiency and performance in the upcoming facelifted version.

We expect the upcoming MG Gloster facelift to come loaded with more tech, including Level-2 ADAS. Also, as per the teaser, the upcoming MG Gloster SUV will make its debut on June 5 and we expect the deliveries of the updated model to commence the same month.
