Top Things About The New MG Gloster Desertstorm SUV

MG introduced the Gloster Blackstorm last year, and now the Storm family has grown with the addition of the Snow and Desertstorm editions. These new editions of the Gloster SUV is expected to attract more customers. That being said, here are the top things you need to know about the new MG Gloster Desertstorm Edition SUV.

Exterior Design

The most significant difference between the Gloster Desertstorm and other Storm editions is its Deep Golden paint. The black grille is accented by red inserts on the headlamp clusters, and various blacked-out elements can be found throughout, including the ORVMs, roof rails, door handles, spoiler, and fender garnish. Glossy black wheels are paired with contrasting red brake callipers.

Interior & Seating Configurations

The Gloster Desertstorm edition features an all-black interior theme, with a black steering wheel featuring white stitching as the only other change. The Desertstorm is available in both six-seat and seven-seat configurations, whereas the Snowstorm comes exclusively in a seven-seat layout.

Key features of the Gloster Desertstorm include a panoramic sunroof, Level 1 ADAS, i-Smart connected car technology, 64-colour ambient lighting, cruise control, paddle shifters, powered tailgate, six airbags, TPMS, and more.

Engine Specifications

The mechanicals remain unchanged for these new editions; the Gloster Desertstorm continues to be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine available in turbo and twin-turbo trims for 4x2 and 4x4 versions respectively.

The single-turbo version produces 159bhp and 373Nm of torque, while the twin-turbo version generates 213bhp and 478Nm. An eight-speed torque converter automatic gearbox is standard across all variants.

Rivals & Price

MG's Gloster competes with rivals such as Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, Skoda Kodiaq, and Isuzu MU-X. A facelift of the SUV is expected to arrive later this year. The prices for MG Gloster Desertstorm and Snowstorm editions are as follows (all prices ex-showroom): Diesel AT 4x2 Turbo - Rs. 41,04,800 (6-seater) / Rs. 41,04,800 (7-seater); Diesel AT 4x4 Twin-Turbo - Rs. 43,86,800 (6-seater) / Rs. 43,86,800 (7-seater).
