MG Cyberster India Launch Details Revealed - To Be Sold Under Premium MG Select Brand
Chinese-owned British carmaker MG is all set to launch the Cyberster electric convertible sportscar at Auto Expo 2025. The launch of the MG Cyberster in India as part of the Bharat Mobility Expo will be the first under the firm's new premium sub-brand, 'MG Select'.
The MG Cyberster was showcased in India for the first time when MG announced its partnership with JSW in March 2024, which saw its Chinese parent firm SAIC Motor reduce its stake in MG's Indian operations to 49% under the new JSW MG Motor India joint venture.
The MG Cyberster was first revealed as a concept at the Auto Shanghai motor show in April 2021. The concept car was a roofless roadster that also featured pop-up headlights. The production-spec MG Cyberster made its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July 2023.
The MG Cyberster is offered in Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) and All Wheel Drive (AWD) guises. The base RWD variant of the Cyberster is offered with a 64kWh lithium-ion (NMC) battery pack which powers an electric motor connected to the rear wheels that pushes out 310bhp and 475Nm. This variant of the Cyberster can sprint from 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds and has a top speed of 193km/h.
The RWD Cyberster is also offered with the larger 77kWh lithium-ion (NMC) battery pack that ups the power level to 335bhp while the torque figure remains unchanged at 475Nm. This version of the MG Cyberster RWD sprints from 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds and has a top speed of 195km/h.
The AWD variant of the MG Cyberster uses the larger battery pack which delivers a claimed range of 580km (CLTC) and powers a dual-motor setup pushing out 536bhp and 725Nm of peak torque. The MG Cyberster AWD can sprint from 0-100km/h in a claimed 3.2 seconds and hit a top speed of 200km/h.
