Mercedes-Maybach Unveils SL Monogram Series For Supreme Open-Air Luxury
The Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series is the sportiest model in the Maybach brand’s history. It features a unique combination of colours and materials for both the exterior and interior, with the Maybach pattern as a linking design element. This pattern appears throughout the vehicle, from front to rear, inside and out.
Two curated design concepts will be available at market launch: "Red Ambience" and "White Ambience." The Red Ambience features a two-tone paint finish of obsidian black metallic over MANUFAKTUR garnet red metallic. In contrast, the White Ambience combines obsidian black metallic with MANUFAKTUR opalite white magno. Both designs embody sensuality, beauty, and lightness, perfectly expressing the philosophy and driving experience of the new model.
The Mercedes-Maybach SL offers a holistic sensory experience with its iconic design refined by exclusive Maybach styling elements. The chrome-finished radiator grille is illuminated, featuring finely integrated MAYBACH lettering. The bonnet boasts an upright Mercedes star and a chromed fin running along its centre. On request, the bonnet can feature the Maybach pattern in graphite grey uni, achieved through a complex process involving hand-sanding and multiple layers of lacquer.
Inside, sustainably tanned crystal white nappa leather creates an exquisite ambience. This leather is used on door panels, the centre console, and signature comfort seats with new floral upholstery designs. The space behind the seats is also finished in white leather, contrasted by galvanised seat backrests and silver chrome trim.
The highest standards apply to driving and acoustic comfort in this model. Measures such as a noise-optimised exhaust system, extensive insulation, and comfort-oriented suspension ensure a quiet and comfortable driving experience typical of Maybach. The 4.0-litre biturbo engine delivers 430 kW (585 hp) through a smooth-shifting 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission for dynamic driving pleasure.
The fully variable 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive provides high traction even on slippery roads, enhancing driving safety. Standard-fit rear-axle steering combines agility with stability for manoeuvrable and safe handling.
Market Launch Details
The market rollout for this model starts in Europe in spring 2025, with other markets to follow. Daniel Lescow, Head of Mercedes-Maybach at Mercedes-Benz Group AG, stated: "Our customers love something special. The Mercedes-Maybach SL Monogram Series adds a sporty two-seater to our model family for the ultimate open-air pleasure."
Additional exterior colours are available upon specific customer requests. The interior also features trim parts in gleaming silver chrome to complement the crystal white nappa leather.
Technical Specifications
{TABLE_X}The vehicle's technical specifications include an eight-cylinder engine arranged in a V8 configuration with a displacement of 3,982 cm3. It has a rated power output of 430 kW (585 hp) at speeds between 5,500-6,500 rpm and a rated torque of 800 Nm at speeds between 2,500-5,000 rpm.
The car accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds and has an electronically limited maximum speed of 260 km/h. It features fully variable 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive and a 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission.
Luxury Accessories Collection
To complement the new Mercedes-Maybach SL Monogram Series, Maybach Icons of Luxury will offer an exclusive collection available in boutiques and online from market launch. This collection includes items such as a leather jacket, sneakers, scarf, tote bag, and dog bag inspired by the materials and colours of the open-top two-seater.
The extensively insulated acoustic soft top consists of light black fabric with the Maybach pattern subtly incorporated in anthracite. The rear features distinctive lights with the Maybach signet and tailpipe trims with signature horizontal bars.
Exterior Features
The windscreen frame is finished in gleaming chrome with additional chrome inserts on sill cladding. The car runs on either 21-inch forged wheels in a five-hole or multi-spoke design.
A dedicated front skirt emphasises width with horizontal air intakes while high-quality rose gold accents finish off the headlights' interiors.
This model's rear is characterised by brand-specific rear skirts with chrome trim alongside dedicated diffuser designs that enhance its sporty appearance when viewed from the side.
