Mercedes-Benz And Goodr Forge Partnership With A Focus On Sustainability And Hunger Relief
Goodr, a company focused on waste management and hunger solutions, has partnered with Mercedes-Benz Vans USA to use the eSprinter for its mission. Jasmine Crowe-Houston, Goodr's founder and CEO, was named the first eSprinter brand ambassador. This partnership highlights Mercedes-Benz's commitment to social and environmental impact through innovative collaborations.
Mercedes-Benz Vans USA provided Goodr with the first refrigerated eSprinter Cargo Van in North America. Thermo King of Charleston customized the van with a refrigeration system to ensure optimal transport conditions for perishable goods. This collaboration aims to promote sustainability and support hunger relief efforts across the country.
The eSprinter is designed to be versatile, catering to various industries with CO2-emission-free transport. It sets a new standard in electric fleet innovation and urban delivery vehicles. The vehicle offers emission-free operation, advanced connectivity through the Mercedes me connect app, and superior driving dynamics.
Goodr leverages technology and a vast partner network to rescue surplus food and deliver quality meals to underserved communities. In 2023, Goodr diverted over 1.3 million pounds of waste from landfills and prevented 714,759 pounds of carbon emissions through its Surplus Food Recovery solution.
Mercedes-Benz Vans is committed to sustainability as part of its "Ambition 2039" strategy. The company aims for an EV share of up to 20% by 2026 and more than 50% by 2030. This goal includes significant CO2 emission reductions across the entire lifecycle of new vans.
"We are thrilled to collaborate with Mercedes-Benz Vans USA to showcase the eSprinter, propel electric mobility and continue to bring much-needed food supply to those in need," said Jasmine Crowe-Houston, Founder and CEO of Goodr. "Addressing food waste and hunger in our country is critical, and we're taking a unique approach to expanding our impact by working with Mercedes-Benz."
Innovative Solutions for Urban Logistics
The collaboration between Goodr and Mercedes-Benz Vans USA also involves Thermo King of Charleston. Thermo King specializes in temperature-controlled transport solutions and equipped the eSprinter with a refrigerated storage system tailored for Goodr's needs.
Iain Forsyth, Director of Product Management and Marketing at Mercedes-Benz Vans USA, stated, "The eSprinter's versatility, combined with Goodr's sustainable delivery solutions, has proven to be an ideal partnership for advancing sustainable urban logistics."
Founded in 2017, Goodr has served nearly 32 million meals as of 2024 and redirected almost 20 million pounds of food from landfills. The company's mission is built on the principle that food insecurity is not about scarcity but logistics.
This partnership not only helps Goodr combat food waste but also reduces greenhouse gas emissions for its charitable partners. The eSprinter aligns perfectly with Goodr's mission to serve communities efficiently and sustainably.
Mercedes-Benz Vans USA continues its commitment to supporting small businesses with efficient last-mile delivery solutions through this collaboration.
The partnership between these organisations marks a significant step towards promoting sustainability nationwide while addressing food insecurity effectively.
