Mercedes-Benz USA And Bijan Robinson Collaborate With Little Free Library To Enhance Community Literacy

In a notable collaboration aimed at promoting literacy and broadening access to books, Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) has joined forces with the nonprofit organization Little Free Library. This partnership came to life during a National Volunteer Week event, where MBUSA employees and Atlanta Falcons player Bijan Robinson came together to construct 175 Little Free Libraries. These book-sharing stations are set to be installed in communities with scarce access to reading materials, filled with books donated by the initiative's supporters.

Little Free Library is renowned for its global network of book-sharing boxes that encourage the exchange of books within communities, thereby fostering a continuous cycle of reading and sharing. This initiative aligns seamlessly with MBUSA's corporate social responsibility initiative, Driving Your Future, which is dedicated to empowering the next generation through educational programs, career readiness, and child safety.

Boosting Literacy: Mercedes-Benz & Little Free Library

The event saw participation from over 250 MBUSA employee volunteers who engaged in various activities including the construction of Little Free Libraries, making sustainable bookmarks, and collecting used books for donation to local communities. Additionally, a virtual reading activity was organized in collaboration with Share The Magic Foundation, benefiting 600 students across two elementary schools.

Both Bijan Robinson and Dimitris Psillakis, President and CEO of MBUSA, lauded the event for its impact and significance. Greig Metzger, Executive Director of Little Free Library, expressed gratitude towards the partnership with MBUSA, highlighting its potential to instill a love for reading among community members. This collaboration not only reflects MBUSA's commitment to social responsibility but also amplifies Little Free Library's mission to enhance community engagement and book access globally.

Mercedes-Benz USA is pivotal in the distribution, marketing, and customer service of Mercedes-Benz products across the United States, including Mercedes-Benz Vans. Their initiative "Driving Your Future" focuses on making a positive impact in communities through technology and sustainability partnerships, career readiness programs, and injury prevention efforts.

Little Free Library stands as a beacon for promoting literacy and book access worldwide. With over 180,000 registered book-sharing boxes globally and more than 400 million books shared since its inception in 2009, the organization continues to expand its reach. Through initiatives like Read in Color, Little Free Library also advocates for diverse literature in underserved areas, ensuring communities have access to a wide range of reading materials.

This partnership between MBUSA and Little Free Library exemplifies how corporate entities and nonprofit organizations can come together to make a tangible difference in communities. By increasing access to books and encouraging a culture of reading and sharing, they are laying down the foundation for a more literate and empowered future generation.
