Mercedes-Benz To Showcase Three World Premieres At Pebble Beach Automotive Week 2024
Mercedes-Benz is set to showcase a variety of vehicles at the Pebble Beach Automotive Week 2024, including the world premiere of the new Mercedes-Maybach SL. This event will also feature the debut of the Mercedes-Maybach S 680 Edition Nordic Glow and a special limited edition of the Mercedes-AMG GT3. Additionally, the C 111-II with its original Wankel engine will be presented following a comprehensive restoration.
Mercedes-Benz Heritage GmbH will highlight significant victories from 130 years of motorsport history. The W 196 R Grand Prix icon from 1955 and other rare vehicles will be on display. Marcus Breitschwerdt, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Heritage GmbH, remarked, "Pebble Beach Automotive Week is one of the most important international platforms for exclusive automotive culture, from fascinating classics to inspiring innovations."
The C 111-II, an experimental vehicle from 1970, is a standout at this event. Known for its Wankel engine and futuristic design, it was never mass-produced despite high demand. Experts at the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center have restored this super sports car to working order, bringing its visionary spirit back to life.
The all-new Mercedes-Maybach SL will make its world premiere on August 18 at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. Another highlight is the Mercedes-Maybach S 680 Edition Nordic Glow, produced by the MANUFAKTUR individualization program and limited to just 50 units for the U.S. market.
In honour of their motorsport legacy, Mercedes-AMG Motorsport has developed a unique GT3 race car for this anniversary. Limited to only 13 units, this special model will also debut during Pebble Beach Automotive Week.
Historic Vehicles on Display
Several historic vehicles will be showcased by Mercedes-Benz Classic at Pebble Beach in 2024. These include a two-litre Targa Florio race car from 1924, which won the grueling road race in Sicily that year. The Maybach Zeppelin DS 8 from 1932 and the Formula 1 race car W 196 R from 1955 will also be featured.
The Targa Florio race car and C 111-II will lead the Tour d'Elegance on August 15, part of Pebble Beach Automotive Week's top events. This tour features around 150 cars on a scenic route including Highway 1 to Big Sur.
Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance
