Mercedes-Benz Previews Next Generation CLA With Sporty Design And Enhanced Efficiency Features
Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Källenius recently provided insights into the upcoming Mercedes-Benz CLA at the company's test facility in Immendingen, Germany. The new CLA aims to set benchmarks in range, efficiency, and charging speed, as demonstrated by the Concept CLA Class. This model is part of a new family of cars that will debut globally in 2025.
The next-generation CLA will offer both an advanced electric drivetrain and a high-tech hybrid combustion engine. The electric version incorporates technology from the EQXX concept, ensuring high performance and efficiency. A two-speed transmission balances sporty performance with efficiency. Meanwhile, the hybrid engine uses 48V technology and a new electrified transmission for an efficient driving experience.
Ola Källenius stated, "With the CLA, we are ushering in a new era at Mercedes-Benz. We will substantially elevate every aspect of what our customers can expect from a Mercedes in this segment. The modular platform allows for maximum flexibility: We can offer the CLA in both a state-of-the-art electric drivetrain version and a hybrid electrified combustion engine version. And our operating system, MB.OS, will make it the most intelligent car we’ve ever built."
The new CLA will be the first vehicle to feature the Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS), which includes the AI-powered MBUX Virtual Assistant. This system enhances interaction between driver and car through intuitive communication and proactive support.
The design of the new CLA draws inspiration from the Concept CLA Class, featuring distinctive headlights that emphasize sportiness and modern aesthetics. Although still a camouflaged prototype, some design elements have been revealed.
