Mercedes-Benz Achieves Best-Ever H1 Sales 2024, Plans Six New BEV Launches In India
Mercedes-Benz has introduced the EQA 250+ and EQB 350 4MATIC in India, expanding its Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) lineup. These models aim to cater to young, eco-conscious customers seeking sporty and practical electric vehicles. The EQA 250+ is priced at INR 66 lakhs, while the EQB 350 4MATIC costs INR 77.5 lakhs.
The EQA 250+ showcases "Progressive Design" and "Intuitive Technology," offering a stylish SUV body with practical features for daily use. It includes a star-pattern grill, central star, and 19-inch alloy wheels. The interior features rosé gold highlights and a backlit trim, creating a luxurious ambience.

Key Features of EQA and EQB
Both the EQA and EQB come with advanced features like a high-resolution head-up display, Burmester® Surround Sound System with Dolby Atmos, augmented reality navigation, and MBUX Interior Assistant with gesture control. They also include THERMOTRONIC® dual-zone automatic climate control and PARKTRONIC® Parking Package with a 360° camera.
The EQB 350 4MATIC debuts in India as a five-seater configuration with premium upgrades. It features an AMG Line exterior and luxurious interior enhancements. The model includes MBUX Gen 2 with improved voice control and augmented reality navigation.

Sales Performance in H1 2024
Mercedes-Benz achieved its highest-ever H1 sales in India in the first half of 2024, selling 9262 units, marking a 9% year-on-year growth. SUVs accounted for 55% of these sales, driven by strong demand for models like the GLA, GLC, GLE, and GLS.
The BEV segment saw significant growth, with sales increasing by 60% year-on-year in H1 2024. BEVs made up more than 5% of total sales volumes during this period.
Customer Sentiments and Market Strategy
"Mercedes-Benz remains the most desirable luxury brand in the Indian market owing to continued customer trust in our products and services," said Santosh Iyer, Managing Director & CEO of Mercedes-Benz India. He added that new products and positive customer sentiments boosted their best-ever H1 sales performance.
Iyer also noted that customers are increasingly adopting sustainable lifestyles. "With the EQA and EQB, we are targeting young customers desiring sporty, dynamic BEVs," he said. These models offer better ownership experiences compared to internal combustion engine (ICE) counterparts.

Sustainability Focused Features
The new BEVs feature advanced safety systems such as seven airbags including driver knee airbag, Blind Spot Assist, Active Brake Assist, PRE-SAFE® safety system along with remote services using Mercedes Me Connect.
The EQB also offers two powertrain options: EQB 350 AMG Line as a five-seater and EQB 250+ Electric Art Line as a seven-seater. Both configurations cater to diverse customer needs while maintaining luxury standards.
The introduction of these BEVs aligns with Mercedes-Benz's ambitious EV roadmap for India. By the end of the year, they plan to have six BEVs available in various segments to meet different customer preferences.
Aiming for Future Growth
"Our BEV roadmap for India is ambitious," said Iyer. The company aims to offer versatile BEVs ranging from the EQA to the upcoming EQS Maybach SUV by year-end.

The company is also enhancing its charging infrastructure across its Franchise Partner network with DC Fast Chargers (60 kW) and Ultra-Fast Chargers (180 kW). Customers receive complimentary AC wall box chargers with every BEV purchase.
The new launches are expected to continue driving growth for Mercedes-Benz in India through innovative products that meet evolving customer demands for sustainability and luxury.
