Mercedes-Benz AMG G 63 Facelift: Top 5 Things You Need To Know

The Mercedes-Benz AMG G 63 facelift has been introduced in India, starting at Rs 3.60 crore (ex-showroom). That being said, here are 5 highlights about the newly launched Mercedes-Benz AMG G 63 facelift SUV.

Powertrain & Performance

This update includes mild-hybrid technology, subtle design tweaks, and enhanced features. The M177 V8 engine now incorporates a 48V mild-hybrid system, adding a 22hp boost to the existing 585hp and 850Nm of torque. The vehicle retains its 9-speed DCT automatic gearbox with paddle shifters.

The updated Mercedes-Benz AMG G 63 facelift can accelerate from 0-100kph in just 4.3 seconds according to Mercedes-Benz India specifications. It also features launch control for enhanced driving dynamics.

Off-Road

The AMG G 63's performance remains impressive with its off-road capabilities intact. It boasts a ground clearance of 229mm, water-wading depth of 700mm, a 31-degree approach angle, and stability on inclines up to 35 degrees. Optional features include AMG Active Ride Control suspension technology and centre-locking mechanism on optional 22-inch alloy wheels.

Exterior Design

The exterior of the AMG G 63 facelift showcases minor design changes. These include a slightly modified front bumper with vertical slats and a dark chrome finish on the radiator grille. The A-pillars have been subtly rounded off, and a new lip has been added to the windscreen to improve aerodynamic efficiency and reduce NVH levels. At the rear, an optional carbon fibre-finished spare wheel cover is available.

Interior & Features

Inside, the G-Class now features the MBUX infotainment system seen in the GLS facelift. It includes two 12.3-inch screens for driver display and instrumentation, making it a touchscreen for the first time. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported, along with an 18-speaker Burmester sound system and a three-spoke AMG performance steering wheel.

The AMG G 63 also comes equipped with temperature-controlled cup holders and a wireless mobile charger for added convenience. The off-road control centre on the dashboard has been revamped for easier access to key functions.

Additional Customisation Options

The updated model offers extensive customisation options with as many as 31 unique MANUFAKTUR upholstery choices and 29 MANUFAKTUR paint options in addition to standard offerings. Keyless entry and go have been introduced for the first time in this model without redesigning the door handle itself.

Mercedes-Benz India has announced that the first batch of 120 units has already been allocated. Customers who reserve their AMG G 63 now can expect deliveries by Q3 of 2025.
