Mercedes-AMG S 63 E Performance Launched In India At Rs 3.30 Crore – The Ultimate Sedan
Mercedes-Benz has officially launched its most potent S-Class variant to date in India, the new AMG S 63 E Performance, carrying a price tag of Rs 3.30 crore (ex-showroom). This model stands out as the apex of the S-Class range, boasting a plug-in hybrid 4.0-litre V8 engine.
This follows the introduction of the GT63 S E Performance, marking the S 63 as the second plug-in hybrid offering from Mercedes in India. Alongside significant power upgrades, the AMG S 63 features distinct exterior and interior enhancements tailored by AMG.
The heart of the AMG S 63 is a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, augmented by a 13.1kWh battery and an electric motor positioned on the rear axle. The electric motor contributes 188bhp and 320Nm to the total output, which peaks at an astonishing 791bhp and 1,430Nm. Inspired by Formula 1 technology, the battery system supports this impressive performance.
A 9-speed automatic gearbox distributes power across all four wheels through the 4Matic system, enhanced with a 'Race Start' function for optimized launches. Mercedes claims the AMG S 63 can sprint from 0-100kph in just 3.3 seconds. It also features eight drive modes, including an all-electric mode that offers a range of up to 33km.
Design-wise, the AMG S 63 inherits the signature AMG aesthetic with the Panamericana grille, marking its first appearance on an S-Class. The aggressive styling is further emphasized by large air intakes, a pronounced chin, and an AMG-spec rear diffuser with quad exhaust pipes. Additional customization options include a Night exterior package and a carbon-fibre package for those seeking an extra edge.
Inside, the AMG S 63 greets occupants with a new four-spoke AMG steering wheel, AMG-spec pedals, and the latest MBUX software featuring AMG and hybrid-specific displays. The luxury quotient is upheld with a 12.8-inch OLED touchscreen, 4-zone climate control, a Burmester 3D surround sound system, and Level 2 ADAS among the standard equipment.
Optional features extend to executive lounge seats, augmented reality heads-up display, and a variety of interior finishes. Also, Mercedes further elevates exclusivity with the S63 E Performance Edition 1, priced at Rs 3.80 crore.
Limited to very few units, this edition boasts unique features such as Manufaktur Alpine Grey exterior paint, matte black 21-inch forged AMG wheels, and bespoke interior details. The Edition 1 encapsulates luxury and performance, offering a distinct experience for the privileged owners.
