Mercedes-AMG Unveils GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ For Enhanced Racetrack Agility

Mercedes-AMG has unveiled the latest addition to its AMG GT lineup at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The new Mercedes-AMG GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ is designed for car enthusiasts seeking superior driving dynamics. This model boasts a 450 kW (612 hp) output from a 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine, ensuring a powerful start.

The aerodynamic enhancements in the AMG GT 63 PRO significantly improve both longitudinal and lateral dynamics. The redesigned front apron features additional air deflectors made of visible carbon fibre around the enlarged side air intakes. These changes reduce aerodynamic lift on the front axle by over 30 kilograms, resulting in more precise steering behaviour.

Cooling has also been optimised with an expanded cooler package. Two radiators are now positioned in the left and right front wheel arches, increasing cooling performance for the drivetrain. Additionally, top-mounted radiators on the differentials and transfer case are actively cooled using electrically operated water pumps, ensuring better heat dissipation.

The AMG GT 63 PRO's engine delivers 20 kW (27 hp) more than its predecessor, with maximum torque increased by 50 Nm to 850 Nm. This results in faster acceleration, with the car reaching 200 km/h in just 10.9 seconds, and a top speed of 317 km/h. The enhanced performance is achieved through adaptations to the engine control unit.

The vehicle's suspension system includes high-tech components like AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL with active roll stabilisation and rear-axle steering as standard. These features, along with active aerodynamics, sharpen the driving profile further.

Interior and Exterior Features

The exterior of the AMG GT 63 PRO reflects its motorsport heritage with an AMG Exterior Carbon Fibre package that includes a front splitter, trim strips in the side sills, diffuser, and rear wing made from high-quality carbon fibre. Black-painted brake callipers add to its sporty appearance.

Inside, the car offers AMG Performance seats with high lateral support and an AMG Performance steering wheel in Nappa leather/MICROCUT microfibre as standard. The interior design emphasises both comfort and sportiness.

Braking System and Wheels

The standard AMG ceramic high-performance composite brake system features six-piston fixed callipers at the front and one-piston floating callipers at the rear. With 420-millimetre brake discs on the front axle, these are currently Mercedes-AMG's largest standard ceramic brake discs. They offer greater durability and resistance to fading under heavy braking.

The lightweight AMG Performance 21-inch forged wheels in cross-spoke design are painted exclusively in Himalaya grey. In the UK, this model comes equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R Cup tyres sized at 295/30 ZR 21 for the front and 305/30 ZR 21 for the rear.

This new model retains all advantages of other AMG GT family members while offering improved everyday usability compared to previous series models. It provides a generous feeling of space and good all-round visibility.

The Mercedes-AMG GT experts have reinforced both high-temperature and low-temperature cooling circuits to prevent overheating under increased load conditions. This ensures optimal performance even during demanding drives on race tracks.

The new geometry of air guide vanes on the underbody channels more air to brakes for increased durability and prevents excessively high brake temperatures during intense driving sessions.

"The agile response to driving commands offers an even sportier driving experience," said a spokesperson from Mercedes-AMG.

This latest addition continues Mercedes-AMG's tradition of blending luxury with high performance while meeting customer demands for enhanced usability in everyday scenarios.
