Mercedes-AMG To Unveil High-Performance GT 4-Door Coupe EV In 2025
Mercedes-AMG plans to shake up the electric vehicle market in 2025 by introducing its first high-performance electric car, the AMG GT 4-door Coupe EV. This model is a major breakthrough as it will be the first vehicle constructed on the cutting-edge AMG.EA electric car platform. Developed solely by Mercedes' performance branch for electric vehicles, this platform signals a new chapter in electric vehicle design and performance.
The AMG GT 4-door Coupe EV is not just any electric vehicle; it is poised to become the most potent AMG model yet. With expectations of outputting over 1000hp and 1300Nm of torque, this vehicle is set to redefine high-performance EV standards. Its design will retain the iconic low-slung silhouette that is synonymous with AMG's combustion engine sports cars, yet it will be constructed on the born-electric AMG.EA architecture.

Revolutionary Powertrain and Specifications
At the heart of this remarkable performance is the advanced electric motor technology from Yasa, a British firm acquired by Mercedes in 2021. Yasa's axial-flux electric motors are known for their high power and torque density, efficiency, and compact size. A motor from Yasa, destined for a Mercedes production car, weighs merely 24kg but delivers an impressive 486hp of power and 800Nm of torque. When deployed in a twin-motor system, the power figures could dramatically increase, potentially reaching the anticipated 1000hp and 1300Nm.
Design and Features
Spy shots of the upcoming model reveal that the AMG GT 4-door Coupe EV will maintain the distinguished low-slung silhouette of its ICE-powered predecessors. The vehicle will also draw design inspiration from the motorsport-themed Vision 2025 concept showcased at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Mercedes has announced that the electric saloon will feature an illuminated grille, reimagined headlamps, a new star design on the bonnet, a retractable spoiler, flush door handles, and a split rear window.

Inside, the AMG GT 4-door Coupe EV will embrace a bold cabin design dominated by a full-width high-definition screen, mirroring the trend set by other Benz-badged vehicles. Although described as a four-seater, future larger models may accommodate an additional seat in the rear. This positioning sets the AMG GT 4-door Coupe EV as a formidable competitor against established EV sports saloons like the Porsche Taycan, Audi e-tron GT, and Lucid Air.
DriveSpark Thinks
With its launch scheduled for 2025, the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door Coupe EV is not just an addition to the burgeoning electric vehicle market; it represents a significant leap forward in performance and design. By combining the performance heritage of AMG with cutting-edge electric technology, Mercedes-AMG is on course to create an electrifying driving experience that rivals the best in its class.
