Meguiar’s Showcases Quartet Of Classic Air-Cooled Porsche 911 Models At Luftgekühlt 10 Event
Car care experts Meguiar’s are set to join air-cooled Porsche enthusiasts at the tenth anniversary of the Luftgekühlt show series. This event, known as one of the top car shows globally, will return to the Universal Studios Backlot in Universal City, CA. The venue is famous for its iconic movie locations, and the Luftgekühlt team first visited it four years ago.
Tickets for this eagerly anticipated event sold out quickly after being announced. Those fortunate enough to secure a ticket can visit Meguiar’s exhibition space at Engine Company No2 Firehouse on Courthouse Square. This location is famously featured in "Back to the Future." Here, Meguiar’s will showcase their latest car care products and offer emergency supplies for vehicle owners who may have forgotten detailing essentials.
As long-term partners of Luftgekühlt, Meguiar’s will display a stunning collection of air-cooled Porsches inside the fire station. A highlight is an early model Porsche 911 Turbo Carrera from Makellos Classics in Escondido, CA. This 1976 model has been restored to its original condition and will be part of the 911 Turbo's 50th-anniversary celebration at the show.
The second car is a 1982 Porsche 911 SC owned by John King. It arrives at Luft 10 from Rico Customs in The Netherlands via Italy. The RC.06 features a short stroke engine conversion, boosting its capacity from 3.0L to 3.2L. With Jenvey throttle bodies and Rico mapping, it produces over 250hp on the dyno.
A Tangerine Orange 1967 911S owned by Greg Bartley is another notable exhibit. Restored by Makellos Classics in March 2023, this car retains its original narrow body with a white interior featuring classic "Pepita" cloth upholstery. Due to an unavailable original engine, it now boasts a twin-plug 3.5L engine with Motec management and independent throttle bodies.
The fourth car is a rare Smyrna Green 1972 Porsche 911 that also underwent restoration by Makellos Classics. It features ST-spec fender flares and a central hood fuel filler. Completed just before Luft 10, this model includes another twin-plug 3.5L engine with Rothsport injection and ITBs.
Meguiar’s has over 120 years of experience in surface care leadership and remains deeply embedded in car culture worldwide. Their commitment to developing high-performance detailing products caters to both seasoned professionals and curious novices alike.
"Every good movie has a sequel, and it's time for ours!" said Jeff Zwart, Luft’s creative director, highlighting the excitement surrounding this event's return to such an iconic venue.
