Mecum Auctions To Showcase 850 Classic And Collector Vehicles In Kansas City This December
Mecum Auctions is set to host its 31st annual classic and collector car auction at the Kansas City Convention Center from December 5-7. This event will feature approximately 850 vehicles, including classic muscle cars, sports cars, Hot Rods, exotics, and antique autos. Among the highlights is a 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Twister Special Fastback.
The auction will showcase a unique 2019 Chevrolet Silverado Pickup, created by RealTruck in partnership with MeatEater. This custom "hunting rig," which was displayed at SEMA 2023, will be sold to support Folds of Honor. This organisation provides educational scholarships to families of fallen or disabled U.S. service members and first responders.
Another standout vehicle is the limited-edition 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Twister Special Fastback. Known as a "territorial special," these Mustangs were initially delivered only to Kansas City dealers. They debuted on November 7, 1969, during Total Performance Day at the district sales office.
A unique offering this year is a 2024 ArtCar project completed by students from Olathe North High School in Kansas. The proceeds from this project will benefit the Kansas City Automotive Museum. The students collaborated with a wrap artist for the car's design and ensured it was mechanically sound.
The Coastal Texas Collection will also present nearly 20 no-reserve vehicles, including several Corvettes like a red 1957 convertible with white coves. An iconic 1981 DeLorean DMC-12 with just under 28,000 miles will also be featured among these offerings.
