McLaren Trophy America 2025 Championship: Iconic Circuits Confirmed

McLaren Automotive has unveiled the schedule for the inaugural 2025 McLaren Trophy America championship, set to commence next spring. This new series will feature ten rounds across five venues, mirroring its European counterpart established in 2023. The championship aims to challenge serious race drivers with 50-minute races that include pitstops for driver changes.

The McLaren Trophy America will kick off in late March 2025 at Sonoma Raceway in Northern California. Following this, the championship will move to the Circuit of the Americas, a venue known for hosting the US Grand Prix for over a decade. The midpoint of the season will be marked by races at Virginia International Raceway in July, followed by an August round at Road America. The season will conclude in October at the Indianapolis road circuit.

The series will feature bespoke McLaren Artura Trophy race cars, which share much of their engineering technology with the acclaimed McLaren Artura road car. These cars boast a carbon-fibre chassis and are powered by a twin-turbo V6 engine tuned to deliver 585PS. Additionally, older 570S Trophy cars will also be eligible to compete, with both models supported by McLaren Motorsport for parts and backup at every round.

"Having established McLaren Trophy Europe as a competitive and social environment for Bronze and Silver drivers, we are delighted to confirm our 2025 calendar as we introduce the new McLaren Trophy America championship," said Mick McDonagh, Director of MSO and Motorsport at McLaren Automotive. "We will be visiting many of the continent’s best circuits, and I’m thrilled that we have rounds at Indianapolis and the Circuit of the Americas in our inaugural season."

The provisional calendar for the 2025 McLaren Trophy America includes:

Date Rounds Location
March 28-30 1 & 2 Sonoma, California
April 25-27 3 & 4 Circuit of the Americas, Texas

Aerodynamic Excellence and Driver Engagement

The Artura Trophy race car features a high downforce rear wing and bespoke aerodynamic package that enhances its performance on track. This setup allows it to deliver lap times comparable to GT3 class cars while ensuring maximum driver engagement. The car's low-sitting engine further improves its cornering abilities.

The championship is designed to provide competitive racing opportunities for both amateur GT drivers and aspiring professionals. Independent teams will run these cars, ensuring a diverse field of competitors. One of the first teams to join is McLaren Toronto, partnering with Motorsports in Action to field a two-car team for the 2025 season.
