McLaren Joins Forces With LEGO To Create A Stunning Technic Version Of The Hybrid P1 Hypercar
The British supercar manufacturer McLaren Automotive and the LEGO Group have unveiled their latest collaboration, honouring the pioneering hybrid hypercar, the McLaren P1™, with the introduction of the LEGO® Technic™ McLaren P1™. This model celebrates the P1™'s status as a landmark in high-performance hybrid vehicles.
The LEGO Technic McLaren P1™ set will be available from 1st August 2024 at www.LEGO.com/McLaren and LEGO Stores. Priced at €449.99 / £389.99 / $449.99, this set offers an immersive building experience with its 3,893 elements.
The McLaren P1™ was designed to be 'the best driver’s car in the world on both road and track'. It features advanced motorsport-based engineering, including innovations in weight reduction, packaging, high-speed performance, powertrain, and aerodynamics.
The LEGO Technic version includes a 7-speed gearbox with two shifter drums, suspension, a V8 piston engine, an adjustable rear wing, and opening dihedral doors. Each model also comes with a unique serial number that unlocks special behind-the-scenes content.
The LEGO Technic design team worked closely with McLaren Automotive to replicate the real P1™ as accurately as possible. Tobias Sühlmann, Chief Design Officer at McLaren Automotive, said: "It’s amazing to see so many of the elements from the original P1 brought to life by the LEGO team for the LEGO Technic McLaren P1™."
Kasper Rene Hansen from the LEGO Group added: "We wanted to capture these details in the best way possible with our LEGO Technic model and we did not want to compromise in any way."
