Mazda's August Sales Soar To Second Highest In U.S. History
Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) announced a significant rise in August sales, reaching 41,259 vehicles, marking a 36.7% increase from August 2023. Year-to-date figures show 283,611 vehicles sold, reflecting a 16% growth compared to the same period last year. The company also noted a 31.9% increase on a Daily Selling Rate (DSR) basis due to one additional selling day in August this year.
Several Mazda models achieved record sales in August 2024. The CX-30 saw its best August with 7,940 units sold. The CX-50 and CX-90 also set new records with sales of 8,668 and 6,024 units respectively. Additionally, the CX-70 recorded its highest-ever sales at 1,352 units.
Mazda Canada Inc. (MCI) reported an impressive increase in August sales, with 8,443 vehicles sold—a rise of 57.4% compared to the previous year. Year-to-date sales in Canada reached 48,408 vehicles, up by 26.6%. Similarly, Mazda Motor de Mexico (MMdM) experienced a substantial boost with August sales hitting 8,452 vehicles, marking a 53% increase from last year and bringing the year-to-date total to 61,220 vehicles—a growth of 32%.
The Mazda3 series showed notable gains with the sedan variant selling 2,000 units and the hatchback version moving 1,661 units—an increase of over 63%. However, the MX-5 Miata saw a slight decline with only 727 units sold in August compared to last year's figures.
The CX-5 model experienced a decrease in sales by about 5.6%, totalling 12,887 units for the month. On the other hand, the CX-50's performance was remarkable with an increase of over 233%, selling more than three times as many units as last year.
