Maserati MSG Racing Overcomes Challenges To Score At Monaco E-Prix
Maserati MSG Racing recently marked their presence at the Monaco E-Prix with a 9th place finish, adding two points to their season tally in what was described as a challenging home race. This performance follows on the heels of consecutive podium finishes in Tokyo and Misano, showcasing the team's resilience and competitive spirit. Drivers Maximilian Günther and Jehan Daruvala showcased their skills, starting within the top 10 after strong showings in practice and qualifying sessions.
During the race, Günther made an impressive leap to 5th place on the opening lap, with Daruvala also making gains. However, Daruvala faced setbacks due to difficulties with activating Attack Mode, which resulted in a loss of track position. Günther experienced his own share of challenges; after briefly dropping to 7th place, he managed to climb back into the top five before being pushed wide on lap 20, which saw him lose three positions and eventually finish in 9th place. Despite these hurdles, Daruvala managed to clock the fastest lap, although he finished in 20th position.

The team's main goal of scoring points was achieved, albeit amidst tough competition and aggressive driving tactics from rivals. Günther reflected on the race as not unfolding as hoped due to these challenges, while Daruvala voiced his frustration over the technical issues encountered. Cyril Blais, Chief Engineer for Maserati MSG Racing, acknowledged the race's difficulties but expressed satisfaction with the points secured. Looking ahead, the team is setting its sights on the upcoming Berlin E-Prix, aiming for a strong performance in this double-header event.
