Maserati Showcases The MC20 GT2 Stradale | Track-Ready Supercar

Maserati has unveiled a more extreme version of its MC20 supercar, inspired by the GT2. This track-ready model is 60kg lighter than the standard MC20 and boasts an additional 10hp from its 3.0-litre V6 turbo-petrol engine.

The Maserati MC20 GT2 Stradale now produces 640hp at 7,500rpm. With a reduced kerb weight of 1,365kg, it can accelerate from 0-100kph in just 2.8 seconds. This performance is comparable to the McLaren 750S, which has more power but is slightly heavier, and it surpasses the Ferrari 296 GTB's acceleration despite its higher power output.

Maserati MC20 GT2 Stradale Features

The GT2 Stradale features an advanced aero kit that includes a new front diffuser and a large rear wing from the GT2. These enhancements provide significant aerodynamic downforce, with 500kg generated at 280kph compared to the standard MC20's 145kg at the same speed.

In addition to the aero kit, the Stradale uses sophisticated suspension and steering-rack tuning identical to the GT2. The braking system is also upgraded with ventilated discs, callipers, pads, and a slightly track-focused anti-lock system.

Performance Enhancements

A new Corsa Evo driving mode is introduced in this model. It functions as an advanced four-level traction control system but is available only with optional performance packs. These packs also include Michelin semi-slick tyres, an electronic limited-slip differential, four-point seatbelts, and other enhancements.

Financial Context

Maserati head Davide Grasso mentioned to Autocar UK that special editions like this are vital for achieving "benchmark margins in the industry." This goal has become even more critical as Maserati aims to recover from a Euro 82 million (about Rs 758 crore) adjusted operating loss recorded in 2023.

The introduction of such models aligns with Maserati's strategy to enhance its market position and financial stability through unique offerings that appeal to enthusiasts and collectors alike.

For further context on Maserati's recent activities, production of internal combustion engine versions of their Quattroporte and Levante models has ended. Additionally, Maserati launched its Grecale model at Rs 1.31 crore.
