Maserati Unveils MC20 Icona And Leggenda At Goodwood Festival 2024
Maserati will showcase its innovative MC20 series at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed from July 11 to 14. The event, held in West Sussex, England, is a significant gathering for motorsports enthusiasts. Maserati's participation highlights their leading super sports car, the MC20, which debuted in 2020 with the V6 Nettuno engine.
Two special editions of the MC20, named Icona and Leggenda, will be revealed at Goodwood. These limited editions celebrate Maserati's return to FIA GT competitions two decades ago. Each series is limited to 20 units and features unique liveries inspired by the MC12 Stradale and MC12 GT1 Vitaphone.
The MC20 Icona and Leggenda are part of Maserati's Fuoriserie Personalization Program. This program offers refined liveries and interiors for a bespoke experience. Both models will be displayed in the Supercar Paddock, an area dedicated to high-performance vehicles.
Alongside the MC20 special series, Maserati will present the legendary MC12 Versione Corse. Developed in 2006 for non-competitive track use, this car boasts a powerful 755-hp V12 engine. Only 12 customer units were produced, making it a rare gem in motorsports history.
An exclusive MC20 Cielo in Blu Victory will also be on display. This spyder features a retractable glass roof and distinctive white Trident on the tonneau cover. Its metallic colour pays homage to the MC12 from two decades ago.
Hillclimb Event Participation
The MC20 Icona, Leggenda, and Cielo will participate in Goodwood's famous Hillclimb event. This highlight of the festival sees classic and modern racing cars speeding up a 1.16-mile hill. It's an unparalleled showcase where Maserati's creations will shine.
GranCabrio Folgore Debut
Maserati will also introduce the GranCabrio Folgore at Goodwood’s Electric Avenue. This is their first fully electric convertible in the luxury segment and claims to be the fastest on the market. It combines sporty design with comfort for long journeys.
The GranCabrio Folgore features an 800V technology-based engine developed with advanced technical solutions. Its unique design ensures optimal performance while maintaining Maserati’s distinctive style.
Maserati’s Current Line-Up
Maserati offers a range of unique cars known for their style, technology, and exclusivity. Their line-up includes models like Grecale SUV, GranTurismo grand tourer, and GranCabrio convertible. These vehicles are available with hybrid powertrains or V6 petrol engines.
The top-tier models include the MC20 super sports car and its spyder version, MC20 Cielo. Both are powered by the Nettuno V6 engine that incorporates F1-derived technologies into standard production cars for the first time.
Future Electric Models
Maserati plans to expand its electric vehicle offerings by 2025. All models will have full-electric versions by then, with a goal to run entirely on electricity by 2028. The current electric range includes Grecale Folgore SUV and GranTurismo Folgore.
The GranTurismo is available with both high-performance V6 petrol engines derived from Nettuno and as a fully electric model. This marks Maserati’s first venture into all-electric vehicles.
Maserati continues to set benchmarks in design, performance, comfort, elegance, and safety across more than 70 international markets. Their tradition of successful cars redefines Italian sports cars' essence.
