Maserati And Antinori Celebrate Tradition With Electric GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello
To mark Tignanello's 50th anniversary, Maserati has crafted a unique Fuoriserie version of its GranCabrio Folgore. This bespoke model, created in collaboration with Marchesi Antinori, will be auctioned on July 14 at the Festival Napa Valley’s Arts for All Gala in California. The event is one of the leading arts charity events in the US.
The GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello features a custom Terra di Tignanello paint, inspired by the vineyard’s soil and the red shades of Tignanello’s barrels. The rims and callipers are matte and gloss black, respectively, while copper-coloured emblems adorn the car. The soft top fabric is also black, adding to its elegant appearance.
Maserati's collaboration with Marchesi Antinori celebrates both brands' rich heritage. Marchesi Antinori has a winemaking history spanning over 600 years and 26 generations. This partnership reflects their shared values of innovation and tradition. Klaus Busse, Maserati Head of Design, stated, "This collaboration with Marchesi Antinori gives us the opportunity to epitomise the essence of Bespoke production."
The interior of the GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello showcases leather seats with a multi-material silver and burgundy ribbed weave made from Vegea, an innovative fabric derived from vineyards. Dark briar wood panels feature lasered details that recall oak barrel printing. The headrest embroidery combines Maserati's Trident with Tignanello’s sun symbol.
GranCabrio Folgore is Maserati's first 100% electric convertible in the luxury segment. It boasts outstanding performance thanks to its 800V battery system developed with Formula E technology. The car offers four true seats and includes features like a neck warmer and wind stopper for comfort during open-top drives.
Piero Antinori expressed pride in this collaboration: "A never-ending challenge, the obsession to improve and constantly question ourselves... these are the cornerstones of the collaboration with Maserati." He highlighted that proceeds from auctioning this special model will go to charity.
A Tribute to Tradition
Tignanello was groundbreaking as the first Sangiovese aged in barriques and blended with non-traditional grape varieties like Cabernet. It represents the Antinori family’s motto, "Te Duce Proficio," meaning "Following your guide I flourish." The wine comes from a carefully selected vineyard in Chianti Classico.
Maserati's range includes models like Grecale and GranTurismo, known for their high-quality materials and technical solutions. By 2025, all Maserati models will have full-electric versions, aiming for an all-electric lineup by 2028.
Legacy of Craftsmanship
The Antinori family has been involved in winemaking since 1385 when Giovanni di Piero Antinori joined the Florentine Guild of Winemakers. Today, Albiera Antinori leads the company with her sisters Allegra and Alessia. Their father, Marchese Piero Antinori, serves as Honorary President.
This special edition car not only celebrates Tignanello's milestone but also embodies Italian craftsmanship at its finest. Both Maserati and Marchesi Antinori continue to innovate while honouring their rich traditions.
